Imaginative people write beautiful fantasy novels. War veterans or people simply discouraged by life experience give birth to magnificent realistic masterpieces. The mindset allows philosophers to create new thoughts and concepts. However, each of the authors starts with one thing, with the first book that will always be special.

Step 1
Consider the topic and concept. Any piece starts with just a few lines. For example, "The Catcher in the Rye" begins with the thought: "I will write about the psychology of a teenager," and the Strugatskys' novel The Ugly Swans is "About Fathers and Children." So do you, try to define the general idea of the story. At the same time, the writing style will be determined: think about how best to present your idea, in which genre it will look more profitable.
Step 2
Don't write the Bible the first time. The main problem of creativity was beautifully described by Viktor Pelevin in the novel “Generation P”: “The most expensive must be sold as late and as expensive as possible, because then there will be nothing to trade”. Many novice authors try to fit all their life experience and all ideas at once into their first work. In no case should you do this - you are unlikely to have enough experience and skills. The more “local” the first piece is, the better.
Step 3
Be original. Practice shows that often the desire to create arises precisely under the influence of the only good writer, and therefore the works turn out to be terribly similar. Of course, everything new is well forgotten old, but still you shouldn't try to copy other authors verbatim. Be critical of yourself, compare, try to find your own style, and exclude elements borrowed from others.
Step 4
Read other authors after writing several chapters yourself. This will allow you to take a fresh look at the literary work: after starting your own work, you will be able to see the process "from the inside". You will begin to pay attention to the complexity of the sentences, at the time in which the book was written (the question is in grammar, not in the plot), you will try to imagine with what facial expression the author wrote these lines, and what he wanted to say with them. All this will surely help you in your own creativity.
