In literature, as in other spheres of human activity, changes and transformations are observed. After many years of fascination with socialist realism, the writers "swung" towards science fiction. Oleg Divov is considered a recognized authority in this genre.
Childhood and youth
For a long time, there has been a popular expression among the people that whoever reads a lot, he knows a lot. On the other hand, those who know a lot don't sleep well. Russian writer Oleg Igorevich Divov is a special person. He knows a lot and does not suffer from insomnia. The future member of the Union of Writers of Russia was born on October 3, 1968 in the family of the creative intelligentsia. Parents lived in Moscow. His father, a hereditary artist-restorer, was on the staff of the Tretyakov Gallery. His mother worked with him and was engaged in fine-tuning thin and miniature elements.
The boy grew up energetic and quick-witted. I learned the letters early and learned to put them into words. A lot of space in the parental home was occupied by bookshelves. Oleg liked to take out the largest volume and look at pictures in it. If there were no pictures in the book, he just read the text. When it came time to go to school, Divov was already a trained student. In class, he was more attracted to communication with peers than specific subjects. He studied well, although he did not have enough stars from the sky. The girls liked Oleg. For some reason, the boys annoyed. And this irritation served as a reason for regular fights after school.
In high school, Divov attended a journalism studio that operated at the House of Pioneers. He liked working with word and plot. According to the rules in force in the studio, the participants of the classes prepared materials for placement in city and regional newspapers. The first publication appeared in the newspaper when Oleg turned fourteen. He remembered the feeling of joy and pride after this event for a long time. After leaving school, Divov entered the journalism department of Moscow State University. But a year later, the student was drafted into the ranks of the armed forces.
Oleg, as a smart guy, was sent to the artillery troops. Two years later, he returned to civilian life with the rank of sergeant. He recovered at the university without any particular obstacles and continued to receive specialized education. However, Divov was expelled from the third year for missing classes and academic failure. This happened in 1991. Since he did not want to die of hunger, the failed journalist got a job as a copywriter in an advertising agency. Oleg earned quite well, but the main thing that he noted later was that he had free time to work on texts.
In the literary field
It is interesting to note that all the events, significant and secondary, occurring in the life of Divov, the writer used in his works. Working in an advertising agency, Oleg managed to prepare and participate in intellectual games on television. He managed, as they say, to light up on the set of "His Game" and "Brain Ring". But then other, more important things rolled on. The first science fiction thriller, The Master of Dogs, hit bookstore windows in 1997. The novel impressed the readership.
The career of a science fiction writer was developing quite successfully. In his next book, The Law of the Frontier, Divov used his own experience as a participant in intellectual games. The novel turned out to be dark but fascinating. He was in great demand among young people who dreamed of achieving success in life, but have not yet done so. In the text, they found recipes and recommendations for effective action. In 1999, readers met the dramatic thriller Culling. Once again, there were rave reviews, although there were also critical remarks. This meant that Divov was recognized as a significant figure in the writing community.
Achievements and awards
According to independent experts, Divov as a writer has a powerful energy. However, this quality should not be confused with imagination and fantasy. The work of the famous science fiction writer contains many components, including rough realism. An example of this is the novel "The Foolish Questions Consultant." The book was written on behalf of a person who participated in the South Ossetian conflict. Reality and fiction are intertwined in a whimsical ornament, and it is impossible to get distracted from reading. The work was awarded the reader's sympathy prize at the festival of science fiction writers "Golden Bridge".
By 2018, Oleg Divov is one of the ten most titled writers working in the fantasy genre. By unverified counts, he has over thirty honorary prizes and awards. One of the latest books was published under the title "Alien Land". Unexpectedly for readers and critics, the author has a social component in the new novel. The plot is that the earthlings arrived on a distant planet similar to the Earth. But people who are like us already live there. And they solve problems the same as we do. So what should we do? There is an answer.
Hobbies and personal life
The writer tries not to spread about his personal life, but he also does not make a secret out of it. It is difficult for Oleg to name the exact number of marriages. However, he admits that he has two sons. For several years Divov lived under the same roof with Svetlana Prokopchik. The husband and wife not only kept a common household, but also wrote novels, as Oleg puts it, in four hands. In 2017, Svetlana died of cancer.
At the current time, the Divas live alone. Keeps the dog. Smokes. Sometimes he drinks whiskey or brandy. Focuses on new projects that readers and critics will learn about in due course.
