Maria Aleksandrovna Kiseleva is a Russian synchronized swimmer and winner of multiple awards, a three-time Olympic champion.
Before career
Maria Aleksandrovna Kiseleva was born in the small Russian city of Kuibyshev, whose population does not exceed fifty thousand inhabitants. The athlete was born on September 28, 1974. Her elder brother Vladimir was already growing up in the family for two years.
Maria's family moved to Leningrad when she was four years old. They lived in a military hostel. At the age of eight, Kiseleva again moved with her family to the capital of Russia - Moscow. There she entered school. At the same age, Maria's mother gave the girl to the pool, where she was taught to swim.
Initially, the girl was afraid of water. The champion overcame her fear only at the age of 10 after changing the pool to another, where she was taught synchronized swimming.
The parents did not count on any significant achievements. The task was only for the daughter to be busy with the business, but Maria was very good at it, she was carried away by this business. Coaches declared success, Kiseleva became a candidate for master of sports, and later even a master of sports.
At the age of 17, that is, in 1991, she becomes a student at the Lesgaft Institute of Physical Education. From this moment, her career begins.
Synchronized swimming
Already in 1993, Masha was a member of the national team of the country and at the European Championship won the first international award - a gold medal. Following this achievement, she becomes an international sports candidate.
In 1996, after taking 4th place at the Atlanta Olympics, Maria entered the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, but dropped out after the 1st year. This is due to the offer to work in a duet with her former rival Olga Brusnikina. Kiseleva agreed to devote all her time to training. In 1997, the duo of Kiseleva and Brusnikina led the synchronized swimming World Cup in China. With the same line-up, they won the European Championship, which was held in Seville.
In 1999 to 2000, Maria received 4 gold medals in Seoul and Istanbul, and also won an Olympic medal in Athens in 2003.
Career as an actress
Director Vladimir Bortko drew attention to Maria, and Maria starred in the film "The Idiot", which was based on Dostoevsky's novel. In October 2015, Maria Kiseleva became the host of a new show that aired on Channel One under the title Together with Dolphins.
Personal life
In 2001, Kiseleva married the master of sports of international class Vladimir Kirsanov. The couple was married until 2012, after which they suddenly divorced. For the fans, this was surprising, because Kiseleva and Kirsanov were considered a beautiful and strong couple.
After the marriage, two daughters remained - Alexandra and Daria.
