Starting conditions
To become a specialist in international relations, you need to have the appropriate knowledge and a broad outlook. It is not so easy for a person brought up in European traditions to understand and accept the value system of the Eastern civilization. Dmitry Viktorovich Streltsov observed the daily life of Japanese citizens from an early age. For almost three years he lived in the port city of Yokohama. He liked the local cuisine. He easily learned to use special chopsticks called hasi.
The future doctor of historical sciences was born on June 29, 1963 in a family of employees. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. My father worked in the Ministry of Commerce, and regularly went on long business trips abroad. Mother taught foreign languages, and accompanied her husband on trips as a translator. Dmitry was seven years old when the family returned from Japan, and he went to school. The boy studied well. His favorite subjects were history and literature. When the time came to choose a profession, Streltsov decided to get a specialized education at the famous Institute of Asian and African Countries.
Professional activity
In 1986 Dmitry successfully completed his studies in history, Japanese language. As part of the curriculum, he spent almost six months at the University of Tokyo. After receiving his diploma, Streltsov entered the graduate school of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The range of scientific interests of the scientist was wide. He researched the problems of nuclear power. By that time, several nuclear power plants were operating in Japan, which were built by American specialists. In 1989, Streltsov defended his Ph. D. thesis on this topic.
Dmitry Viktorovich was engaged not only in scientific research. For several years, Streltsov worked as an expert at the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Tokyo. He lectured on the history of Russia to students of the University of Okinawa. In 2003 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The system of government in Japan in the post-war period." Streltsov not only wrote scientific articles, but translated monographs of Japanese scientists and politicians. The book “Kim Il Sung and the Kremlin. North Korea during the Cold War."
Recognition and privacy
For his great contribution to the development of Russian-Japanese relations, Streltsov was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. The scientist was awarded a special prize for the development of environmental education in Russia.
Streltsov's personal life turned out well. He is legally married. The husband and wife raised and raised two children.
