Knowing how to spell an address in German can come in handy in a variety of situations. For example, when ordering goods from a German store, you need to correctly write the destination address so that the parcel is successfully delivered. And when sending a letter, it is more important to indicate the delivery address correctly.
Instructions
Step 1
The online store on which you order the goods will offer to write the recipient's address (Empfaenger or Empfaengeradresse) at checkout. Here the question may arise: in what language to fill out the form? Obviously, the site is German, then the language must be German. But it turns out that everything is much simpler, and you may not even need to know this language.
Step 2
Use transliteration (notation in Latin) when writing your address. If you do not know perfectly Latin letters, then you can use the help of the translit.ru website. It is better to write the name of the country briefly in English (Russian, and not the Russian Federation).
Step 3
This is done so that when a store employee receives your request, it does not contain incomprehensible hieroglyphs due to the incorrect transformation of the encoding from Cyrillic to Latin.
Step 4
In fact, the most important thing is the correct name of the country, because the German Post is responsible for your parcel only up to the Russian border. After the successful passage of customs, it is disposed of by the employees of the Russian post office.
Step 5
If you need to sign the envelope, then in the addressee's field, for reliability, duplicate the name of the country in German. If the envelope goes, for example, to Germany, you should get: Germany / Deutchland. The country is written last.
Step 6
First write the recipient's first and last name in German with a capital letter. Carefully, first name, and then surname, as is customary at the German post office. Moreover, in Germany, in almost all multi-storey buildings, apartments have no numbers, and mail is delivered to the recipient's name.
Step 7
Write the name of the street. It usually includes the word strasse (which translates to street). For example, Hauptstrasse. Therefore, it is not worth writing "street" before the name again.
Step 8
Indicate the number of the house and apartment (if any).
Step 9
Write down the index carefully. How successfully the mail will be delivered depends on its "correctness". Enter the city name after the zip code.
