Mikhail Mukasey chose his profession, following in the footsteps of his father. He is the son of cinematographers Svetlana Druzhinina and Anatoly Mukasey. Mikhail's success in cinematography is not yet as significant as that of his eminent parents. He achieved the best creative results by shooting commercials and clips. On one of these shootings, Mikhail met his future wife.
From the biography of Mikhail Anatolyevich Mukasey
The future Russian cameraman and producer was born in the capital of the USSR on January 3, 1966. At that time, Mikhail's mother Svetlana Druzhinina had not yet gained fame as a director, but had already managed to star in the famous Russian films "Girls" and "It Was in Penkovo." The boy's father is the famous cameraman Anatoly Mukasey. The parents named their son in honor of his grandfather, who for many years was a fighter of the invisible front and worked from illegal positions outside the country. Interesting fact: Mikhail Isaakovich was a friend of the famous Charlie Chaplin.
At the age of 12, Mikhail faced a family tragedy - his older brother Anatoly committed suicide. After this incident, the parents very strictly took up the upbringing of their youngest son.
After graduating from school, Mikhail became a student at VGIK, choosing for himself the profession of a cameraman. Of course, this choice was made under the influence of family tradition.
Career of Mikhail Mukasey
In his youth, Mikhail was for some time a guitarist in the Obermaneken group, which successfully performed in the USSR and abroad. Young people played new wave rock. But in subsequent years, Mukasei Jr. focused on the operator's activities. He considers his work to be the most important in cinematography, because it is through the eyes of the cameraman that the viewer sees the director's plan.
Mikhail Anatolyevich took part in the filming of famous Russian films, including: the thriller "Tin", the films "Down House", "The Idiot", "The Arbiter", "Montana", "Hunting for Red Manch", "The Snow Does Not Always Melt", "On treason”,“The first autumn of the war”,“Exchange”.
In 2009, Mukasey received a membership card of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, and a little later he became a member of the jury of the White Square Award for Cameramen.
It just so happened that the operator achieved his highest creative successes by shooting commercials and clips.
Mikhail Mukasey also discovered his entrepreneurial talent: he is the owner of a company that renders equipment for cinematography and occupies a leading position in this peculiar market segment.
Personal life of Mikhail Mukasey
It was on the set of advertising that Mikhail met his future wife, world volleyball champion Ekaterina Gamova. Before this acquaintance, the operator had already managed to find out what marriage is. And even became the father of two children - a son and a daughter. However, Mikhail, being the grandson of the glorious Soviet intelligence officer, hides the details of his personal life from the general public.
The happiness of Mikhail and Katya was not prevented by the age difference: Mukasey is much older than Gamova. The difference in height did not interfere with the relationship: Mikhail is several centimeters shorter than Catherine. Mukasey's parents approved the choice of their son. The wedding, which took place in 2012, was very modest.
