Robert Nesta Marley was born in 1945, in February. The birthplace was a small village near the ocean. Bob was not a purebred Jamaican. The popular musician and singer became the fruit of the love of a local resident and a Jew from Great Britain (his mother was 18 years old, and his father was 55).
The officer came to Jamaica because of the Second World War, where he met his love - Sedella Booker. They were sure that they would live together for many years, but the service forced their father to leave for their homeland alone. According to his superiors, blacks need to be where they were born. Poverty, hobbies and early victories
A few years later, Bob and his mother move to Kingston, right to the capital of his native island. Bob's childhood and adolescence was spent in a slum, where there was violence, poverty and other poor conditions. The future singer studied to be a welder, but his main hobbies were football, music and women.
The future legendary singer realized that he could not live without music when he created the first guitar from what was at hand. He and his friends played in the barracks at parties. The audience smoked weed and enjoyed the music. Gradually, the audience grew, but Bob went to America in order to find himself and music. At first, however, he only worked as an assembler at the Chrysler plant.
Rastafarianism
The immediate future did not work out - problems with the law, street showdowns. So Bob came back, where there were also troubles. But it was there that he found a religion - Rastafarianism. This was a watershed moment.
It is difficult to recognize an Orthodox, Catholic or Protestant, but Rasta can always be seen even from afar. This is a large hat with the colors of the Ethiopian flag and dreadlocks.
The religion preaches the brotherhood of all blacks, as well as the unity of the African peoples. The symbol of religion is Ethiopia, which refused to submit to the colonialists of Europe. The music of this religion is reggae. And from that moment on, Bob Marley's music was not just music. She became a reflection of the musician's religion.
The last years of life and the cause of death
Shortly before his death, the singer was baptized in the Orthodox Ethiopian Church, where he was given an Orthodox name. Bob Marley was in a hurry, taught people to be kind and believed that any mistakes would still benefit a person.
The cause of death was hidden where no one expected her - during one of the football games he injured his finger, but did not pay attention to such a small injury. When the leg continued to hurt, doctors discovered melanoma in the singer and prophet. Only amputation could save. However, Bob abandoned the operation, as he did not take himself apart.
Fun Fact: Melanoma is virtually non-existent in blacks. Some fans saw in such a disease a mockery of fate - a fighter for the rights of blacks, whose personal life was full of love, died of a white man's disease.
Awards
Bob received most of the awards posthumously. For example, in 1994 his name was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And after 7 years he had a star on the Hollywood Walk and a Grammy Award.
