Vadim Gennadievich Tarasov is a famous Kazakhstani and Russian hockey player. Played as a goalkeeper. From 2013 to the present day he has been a coach of goalkeepers at HC Salavat Yulaev.
Biography
The future athlete was born on the last day of December 1976 in the Kazakh city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. From early childhood Vadim loved active games and sports in general. He loved to run and play football, but there was no good football academy in Tarasov's hometown. The parents understood that the child's active desire for sports cannot be ignored, and decided to try to enroll Vadim in a local hockey school.
Ust-Kamenogorsk has one of the best hockey academies in Kazakhstan and the chances that the boy would be immediately taken were small. Nevertheless, he was accepted on the first try, the commission saw the potential of the future hockey player, and he was enrolled in the academy.
Career
At the age of seventeen, Tarasov signed his first professional contract with the club, where he grew up as a hockey player, with Ust-Kamenogorsk "Torpedo". But he did not stay at the club for a long time, an extremely rare hit in the lineup led in the end to a transfer to another club just a year later. In 1995, the athlete received an offer from the Russian club Metallurg Novokuznetsk and accepted it without hesitation. The club from Kuzbass acquired a new goalkeeper almost as a replacement for the old one, and after a couple of years Vadim began to take a place in the starting lineup regularly. In total, Tarasov spent six fruitful seasons at Metallurg.
In 1999, another draft took place in the national hockey league, where Tarasov was chosen by the Montreal Canadiens coaches. In 2001, after the end of the contract with the Kuzbass club, Tarasov went to conquer North American hockey. Vadim played in the Quebec Citadels farm club, which played in the American Hockey League. After spending only one season there and playing fourteen matches, Vadim Tarasov returned to Novokuznetsk Metallurg.
In 2006, he reached an agreement with the hockey club Salavat Yulaev and moved from Novokuznetsk to Ufa. In the new club, he regularly appeared on the ice, and two years later he won the first serious trophy in his career. Tarasov won the Russian Championship with Salavat. After several transfers to other clubs, in 2012 he again found himself in the "Salavat", where he finished his work on the ice.
Since the new season, he has become the coach of Salavat goalkeepers, and today he continues to work in the Ufa club.
Achievements and personal life
Throughout his playing career, the famous goalkeeper was named the best three times, in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In 2000, he became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship as part of Metallurg Novokuznetsk. In 2008, he won the gold medal of the Russian championship with the hockey club Salavat Yulaev. The athlete is married and has two sons.
