From the biography of Victoria Tokareva
Victoria Samoilovna Tokareva was born in Leningrad on November 20, 1937. The family was formed before the start of the war. Victoria's father was an engineer. In 1941 he was drafted into the militia. He later ended up in the hospital with a disappointing diagnosis: esophageal cancer. At the beginning of 1945, my father passed away.
Two daughters were raised by their mother. After the death of her husband, she never got married. Mother worked at the factory as an embroiderer, often took work home. The image of the mother can be traced in many of Tokareva's works.
After leaving school, Victoria was going to become a medic. However, fate turned out differently. After studying for four years at a music school, Victoria entered the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory.
After the marriage, Tokareva left for Moscow. Here she taught at a music school. However, her pedagogical activity did not appeal to her. Tokareva left school and got a job at the Mosfilm film studio.
At one time, at one of the creative evenings, Victoria met Sergei Mikhalkov. It was his patronage that allowed Tokareva to enter VGIK. This predetermined her entire subsequent fate.
Victoria Tokareva's creativity
In 1964, Victoria Samoilovna entered the screenwriting department of VGIK and published her first story. It got the name "Day without lies". Five years later, Victoria received the coveted diploma of a screenwriter. This was followed by her book "About what was not," which included early stories and stories.
In 1971, Victoria Samoilovna became a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR. By the beginning of the 90s, Tokareva confidently occupied the first lines in the rating of the most published Soviet writers.

Tokareva creates all his works in the old fashioned way - by hand, using a fountain pen and paper for work. She believes that a soulless computer can never become a conduit of talent.
