Maxim Marinin is a Russian figure skater in pair skating. He performed in tandem with Tatyana Totmianina. After completing his professional career, the two-time world champion, five-time European champion and three-time Russian champion takes part in popular television projects.
Maxim Viktorovich came to figure skating quite late, at the age of seven. However, the boy was so carried away by a beautiful sport that he worked very hard, proving that he was a promising skater.
The beginning of a sports career
The biography of the future champion began in 1977. The boy was born in Volgograd on March 23. The second child, the younger brother Vladimir, was born in the family for four years. Maxim was often ill in childhood. The parents decided that he should play sports. Tatyana Alekseevna noticed the announcement of the recruitment to the figure skating group by chance. Her husband, Viktor Yakovlevich, who was previously seriously involved in dancing, supported her decision.
The first mentor of the boy was Tatiana Skala. She developed surprisingly trusting and warm relations with all the pupils. Classes in the sports school did not interfere with excellent studies in general education. At home, the father was engaged in choreography with his son. Until the age of 16, Marinin was engaged in single skating in his hometown. He achieved notable success, becoming one of the most promising figure skaters.
Difficulties began in 1993. Purposeful Maxim did not want to stop training, but problems arose with the implementation of difficult elements. Marinin was recommended pair skating. The young athlete who made the decision moved to St. Petersburg. In Northern Palmyra, the skater was educated at the Academy of Physical Culture. Partner Maxim was not able to pick up immediately. The coaches put two candidates with him, but they managed to skate only with the third, Tatyana Totmianina.
As a result, coach Tatyana Pavlova decided to leave the promising, but so far not showing outstanding success, the guy in the reserve. Then she announced that she was refusing to train. The guys turned to Tamara Moskvina for help, but she was very busy and advised the athletes of her student, Oleg Vasiliev. Since he worked in the United States, the couple had to travel overseas.
Achievements
At the age of 20, Marinin and Totmianina joined the Russian national team. The guys managed to show that their potential is huge. The couple were distinguished by ease of skating, a program of high complexity, purity of performance technique and artistry. This fascinated the audience and ensured high marks from the judges.
In 1999-2000, the guys at the Russian championships became silver and bronze medalists. At the European Championships, they first took the top step of the podium in 2004. Then twice the couple became the winner of tournaments of a similar rank. The skaters won the world championship twice.
In 2006, serious preparations began for the Turin Olympics. The couple trained hard. At the Skate America competition, Maxim could not keep his partner. Tatiana was injured in the fall. This was a real blow for Marinin. Real luck was explained that there were no consequences. The training continued after a two week break.
The guys won the 2006 Olympics. After the victory, the couple decided to take a break. Skaters at that time took part in several television projects. Totmianina and Marinin did not return to the world of big sports again. In the same year, Maxim took part in the TV competition for the first time in the Stars on Ice program. He danced with Olympic champion Maria Kiseleva. The figure skater has been a regular participant in the show since 2007. He performed in Ice Age in tandem with actresses, singers and presenters.
During the second season, Maxim, who had already dropped out of the competition, replaced Vitaly Novikov in the final, who refused to continue the competition due to workload.
New Horizons
In the new format of the show "Ice and Fire", the athlete appeared in 2010 with the singer Natalia Podolskaya. The couple managed to reach the final and become a bronze medalist. The skater took part in the TV project "Bolero" in 2011. His chosen one, ballerina Natalya Somova acted as a coach.
The artistic nature does not plan to be limited to dancing on ice. Marinin has mastered the difficult profession of a dolphin trainer.
The famous figure skater also took part in the character of the Wolf in the TV play "Mama" based on the plot of a folk tale.
The "Ice Age" was not forgotten either. In 2014, Maxim's rival was his partner Tatyana Totmianina, who performed with Artur Smolyaninov.
Together with Tanya, Maxim appeared in the "Ice Age. Professional Cup ". And in 2015, the tour of the star Averbukh team began around the world.
Family and work
Maxim took part in the musical "Carmen". Together with the skaters, the show features singers, dancers, actors, jugglers and acrobats. Decorations with mirrors created an incredible atmosphere.
Maxim Viktorovich took place in his personal life. With his wife, a ballerina of the Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater, he met in 2005 thanks to a psychologist who worked there. Sympathy between young people arose from the first meeting. In 2007, a son, Artemy, was born in the family. Daughter Ulyana appeared in 2012.
