Opera prima Khiblu Gerzmava is rightfully called the "golden soprano" of Russia. Her voice has sounded more than once on the best stages in the world - from her native Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater to London's Covent Garden and Tokyo's Bunka Kaikane. Always different and capable of surprising the audience, she loves to experiment on stage, performing jazz along with the classics.
Biography: early years
Khibla Levarsovna Gerzmava was born on January 6, 1970 in the Abkhazian Pitsunda. There, on the Black Sea coast, she spent her childhood and youth. Parents noticed a craving for music in their daughter from an early age. They hurried to send Khibla to a music school, which was located in Gagra, 20 km from Pitsunda. There she sang and played the piano.
The Pitsunda temple had a great influence on the subsequent creative activity of Khibla. Organ evenings were often held in the 10th century building. And Khibla tried not to miss a single concert. As a child, she even thought about becoming an organist.
When Khibla was 16 years old, his mother was gone. The woman was crippled by cancer. Khibla later recalled in an interview that while caring for her sick mother, she could not even imagine that she would never be healthy again. At that difficult time, her voice opened. Khibla sang after her mother left. Therefore, Gerzmava calls her voice a gift from above.
Two years after the death of the mother, the father was gone. Hible was left a complete orphan at the age of 18.
After graduation, the girl entered the vocal department of the Sukhum Music College. Josephine Bumburidi taught her the basics of singing. A year later, Khibla decided to go to Moscow. There she entered the vocal department of the Moscow Conservatory, where famous opera singers Irina Maslennikova and Evgenia Arefieva became her teachers. At the same time, Khibla studied in the organ class, to which she treated with special reverence since childhood.
As a student, she consistently took part in international vocal competitions. Khibla won prizes. Thanks to this, opera connoisseurs noticed her even then. After graduating from the Conservatory, Gerzmava continued her postgraduate studies.
Career
Immediately after graduating from the Conservatory, Khibla was invited to work at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater. There she became the leading soloist and remains so to this day. Soon, other theaters, including the Bolshoi, began to lure her away. But Gerzmava remains true to her native land.
Hibla is sensitive to the choice of the repertoire. She refuses to sing parts that she considers "strangers" to herself. Prima defines herself as "a soprano with an emphasis on lyricism." On account of her parties in such operas as:
- "Ruslan and Ludmila";
- "The Golden Cockerel";
- "Love drink";
- La Traviata;
- "Turandot".
In 2001, Khibla founded the festival "Khibla Gerzmava invites …" in her native Abkhazia. It takes place every year.
In 2006 Gerzmava became the People's Artist of Abkhazia. Later she was awarded a similar title, but in Russia.
Personal life
Khibla is divorced. She tries not to spread about her ex-husband. But he willingly talks about his only son Sandro, who was born in 1998. It is known that nature did not cheat him and he followed in the footsteps of his mother. Like Khibla, Sandro performed on the stage of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater. The singer often publishes joint photos on her social media page.
