A rare singer can achieve the same popularity as Sofia Rotaru. The living legend has lived a difficult life, and continues to delight us with his songs.
Childhood and youth
Sofia Rotaru was born in 1947 in the village of Marshintsy, Ukrainian USSR. Her parents are Moldovans by nationality, and the region where the Rotaru family lived was ruled by Romania for a long time. Therefore, from childhood, Sofia spoke several languages and was influenced by several cultures.
Sofia's father was engaged in grape cultivation, and her mother was a saleswoman in the bazaar. The Rotaru family had six children, including Sonya. All the sisters, father and mother were distinguished by their rare musicality; home concerts were often held in the house. The father played the accordion, and the children sang. It was Sofia's dad who first spoke about her future, saying that "Sonya will definitely become an artist."
Separately, it should be said about Sofia's older sister Rotaru Zinaida. The girl was born a rare beauty, had perfect pitch and a very kind heart. But as a child, she suffered from typhus and became completely blind. Zina sat at the radio for a long time and memorized many songs, and then taught them to the sisters. Sofia Mikhailovna says that it was her sister Zina who became her first music teacher and instilled in her a love for Russian song.
It should be noted that the two sisters of Sofia Aurika and Lydia, as well as brother Yevgeny, are also involved in music and are quite famous within Ukraine.
Education
After graduating from school, Sofia entered the conducting-choral faculty of the music school in Chernivtsi. After graduating from it, she continued her education at a higher musical educational institution in Chisinau.
Strictly speaking, from the age of fifteen, Sofia Rotaru was a famous singer and could afford not to study at all, referring to constant tours and employment (as many current pop stars do). But in the Soviet Union, this matter was strict, singers without education could not perform on the best stages of the country. In addition, Sofia Mikhailovna very responsibly approached her profession and did not allow hack-work.
Musical career
Sophia's singing career began at the age of fifteen. At this age, she won a regional amateur competition, and later confirmed her title at the regional competition and at the Republican Festival of Folk Talents. Then her photo was placed on the cover of the magazine "Ukraine", where her future husband saw her and was determined to find a beautiful girl.
Anatoly Evdokimenko was a stubborn young man and found a singer. He invited Rotaru to his orchestra, and from that moment Sofia Mikhailovna firmly embarked on the path of a pop singer, which does not end to this day.
Sofia Rotaru performed in the best concert halls in Ukraine and the entire Soviet Union. She was awarded the titles of People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Ukraine, Knight of the Moldovan Order of the Republic.
Sofia Rotaru has performed in various genres - from classical opera to pop and jazz. Rotaru's songs are heard in many languages - Russian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Romanian, English. The singer is known and loved in Western and Eastern Europe.
Image
It's no secret that Sofia Mikhailovna is a very beautiful woman. Many even consider her the most beautiful singer of the Soviet era. And his appearance undoubtedly helped Rotar achieve popularity.
But Sofia Mikhailovna did not immediately come to the image of a luxurious brunette with long flowing hair. At the beginning of her career, she wore curls and was brown-haired. It was fashionable at that time.
Sofia Rotaru first appeared on the Soviet stage in a trouser suit. It was an unheard-of phenomenon for that time, but the beloved singer was forgiven for such liberty.
Sofia Mikhailovna has had an impeccable figure all her life. This is not a gift from nature, but the result of constant work on yourself. Together with Rotaru, her personal nutritionist goes on tour and monitors her nutrition.
It's no secret that Sofia Mikhailovna is over seventy years old. But looking at this woman, it is difficult to believe in such an impressive figure. Sofia Mikhailovna admits that she resorts to the help of plastic surgeons, but she does it very carefully so as not to harm her face.
Rivalry with Pugacheva
Those who lived in Soviet times remember the conflict between two stars - Pugacheva and Rotaru. Alla Borisovna was extremely jealous of the competition with a talented singer from Ukraine. At one time, even (they say that thanks to Pugacheva) Rotaru was secretly forbidden to perform in concert halls in Moscow.
But Sofia Mikhailovna was philosophical about the intrigues of competitors, especially since the army of her admirers did not diminish in the least from these prohibitions. Talent cannot be hidden anywhere, and it will find its way.
As a result, Pugacheva and Rotaru publicly reconciled at one of the concerts and sang together the song of the Tatu group "They will not catch up with us", which plunged some fans into bewilderment.
Personal life
In the life of Sofia Rotaru there was only one man - her husband Anatoly Evdokimenko. This phenomenon is rare for pop stars, and favorably distinguishes Sofia Mikhailovna from her colleagues. Perhaps due to her impeccable moral character, the name of Sofia Rotaru rarely appeared in scandalous chronicles.
Anatoly Evdokimenko died in 2002, the singer was very upset about this loss. Then, for the first time in her life, she canceled concerts and a performance on the famous "Song of the Year".
The singer has a son Ruslan and two grandchildren named after their grandparents - Sofia and Anatoly.
