From the biography of Georgy Ivanovich Burkov

The future actor was born on May 31, 1933 in Perm. He was the most ordinary child. I spent my free time playing with other children. He loved to kick the ball. Burkov studied at school without much effort. He was also given a certificate to one of the last in the class - along with poor students. But he read a lot. And he often returned to the pages of books he had read in order to comprehend them again. It happened that Zhora went through a book he liked with a pencil in his hand. What for? He just set himself the difficult task of "mastering the word." He wanted to know what the books were made of.

Burkov's father began his career as a simple worker at Motovilikha. This was the name of the factory district of Perm. Subsequently, Ivan Grigorievich grew up to the chief mechanic of the enterprise. But such a high position did not change the character of the father. He remained a benevolent and gentle person. Georgy's mother, Maria Sergeevna, at all times was her son's best friend. By his own admission, the actor hid all his life that he was a "mama's boy."

When George was six years old, he was diagnosed with typhoid fever. An operation was performed in the hospital. However, it became unsuccessful. The best doctors of Perm undertook the next operations. But the boy's condition only worsened. The situation was critical. Then his mother took George from the hospital and showed him to local healers. Treatment with herbs and love gave the desired result - the boy went on the mend and returned to normal life.

In his youth, Burkov played excellent volleyball. His sporting achievements were one of the reasons why he was admitted to a local university without any questions. In 1952 Burkov became a student at Perm State University, where he began to study law. However, even then a love for the theater awoke in him. Without leaving his law studies, Georgy enrolled in an evening studio that worked at the Perm Drama Theater. Here he began to comprehend the basics of a new profession. It was then that the young man realized that he could not live without a stage.

Burkov never received his law degree. Instead, he began looking for work in the theater. They were ready to hire him in the theater of the provincial town of Berezniki. Here the actor's creative career began, which continued in the Perm and Kemerovo theaters.

Bright and sparkling work on stage made Burkov famous in local theatrical circles. However, the actor himself thought of a more significant success: he dreamed of a metropolitan scene. He never stopped thinking about how to achieve even greater success.

Conquest of the capital

In 1964, the Stanislavsky Moscow Drama Theater toured Perm. At some point, Burkov decided to show his talent to the head of the troupe. The director Lvov-Anokhin invited Georgy to a preliminary audition, and based on the results he invited Burkov to work in the capital.

Burkov got a place in a hostel and got a job at the Stanislavsky Theater. After that, a stormy rise began in the career of a distinctive provincial actor.

In 1966 Burkov played one of the key roles in the production of Anna. This creative work of Georgy Ivanovich has earned the recognition of directors and the love of a sophisticated audience.

In the same year, the actor tried his hand at cinema. However, he played his best roles in cinema much later. Among the cinematic works of Burkov, the following paintings can be distinguished:

  • "The Case of Polynin";
  • "Red viburnum";
  • “They fought for the Motherland”;
  • "Love affair at work";
  • "Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath!";
  • "Garage".

In the iconic film "The Case of Polynin" Burkov for the first time had a chance to play with eminent actors. Among them:

  • Nonna Mordyukova;
  • Anastasia Vertinskaya;
  • Oleg Tabakov;
  • Oleg Efremov.

Gradually Burkov becomes one of the most demanded actors in Russian cinema. Most often he had to try on supporting roles. However, without the participation of Georgy Ivanovich, not a single significant Soviet film was released. The work of the actor was rewarded: in 1980 Burkov became an Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

last years of life

Burkov successfully combined his work on the set with theatrical performances. He played in the troupe of the Gorky Theater, then joined the collective of the A. S. Pushkin. The audience immediately fell in love with this simple-minded actor, who could show on the stage and in the frame characters so close in spirit to the public. Georgy Ivanovich also enjoyed the respect of his colleagues in the creative workshop.

It is for these reasons that in 1988 the name of the actor became the first in the list of candidates for the post of artistic director of the Shukshin Cultural Center. Having taken this position, Burkov could not only act in films and play on the stage of the theater. He got the opportunity to share his vast experience with young actors.

In 1990, Burkov performed his last role in cinema. It was the Murder of a Witness detective. After that, Georgy Ivanovich no longer acted in films. In the last years of his life, the actor actively worked on the processing and systematization of his diary entries. Subsequently, these manuscripts formed the basis of the book. But Burkov could no longer pick up its first copy.

In early July 1990, Burkov, trying to get the book he needed from the shelf, broke his hip neck. After that, a blood clot came off, which caused the death of the actor. On July 19, 1990, Georgy Ivanovich passed away.

Burkov's personal life has never been stormy. In 1965, Georgy Ivanovich married actress Tatyana Ukharova. In 1966, the couple had a daughter, Maria. These two closest people remained with Burkov until the last days of his life. The actor's diaries were published with the permission of his wife. After some time, she wrote a number of works in which she covered the creative and life path of her husband.

Tatiana, recalling Burkov's stories, notes that he was always looking for his place in life. With these searches, he simply tormented himself from an early age. This is evidenced by his vivid biography and diary entries. Most of all, the actor was afraid that he would live life without any meaning. He trusted his diary with his impressions. Many of his notes were useful to the actor when working on roles in theater and cinema.
