The future Russian politician and statesman was born on April 23, 1967. The place of his birth is the town of Kushva, in the Sverdlovsk region. This is also where his parents come from. At one time, Burkov's grandfather moved here from the Volga expanses.

Alexander's father worked as a crane operator at a local industrial enterprise. Mom worked on the railroad. She began her career as a ticket clerk, and later rose to the position of deputy head of the station.

The family brought up two children - Alexander has an older brother, Victor. At first we lived in a communal apartment. Then my father was given a separate house at the plant. Alexander spent almost all his childhood in the yard. Together with friends I climbed on construction sites, fought, played naughty.

As he grew older and more serious, Burkov became interested in sports. He was involved in athletics, played basketball and volleyball well. But Alexander could not boast of special success in mastering the school curriculum. The humanitarian disciplines were the most difficult for him. It was easier with physics and mathematics.

Even before leaving school, Burkov decided to enter the Ural Polytechnic Institute. As a result, he became a student at the heat and power faculty. Lived in a hostel. Burkov considers his student years in Sverdlovsk to be the most interesting part of his life.

Burkov graduated from Polytech in 1989. With a degree in heat power engineering, he got a job at the TEA Malakhit enterprise. The salary of an engineer in those years was small, and even then at times they were delayed. By that time, Alexander Leonidovich had already become a family man. I had to earn money on the side.

In the early 90s, Burkov decided to go into business. He became one of the leaders of a private enterprise, where he was responsible for the operation of transport and logistics. However, Burkov's business "did not go". As a result, he decided to try to find an application for his abilities in the public service.

In 1992, Alexander Leonidovich became a specialist at the Center for Economic Reforms under the Russian government. A few years later, he became the head of the Regional Policy Department. At the same time, he received a mandate from the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, where he was elected three more times in the future.

Having gained experience in management, Burkov in 1995 took the position of deputy chairman of the regional government for state property management. He was in charge of issues of nationalization of local enterprises. After a conflict with the governor, Alexander Leonidovich resigned from his office and refused his deputy mandate.

In 1999, Burkov put forward his candidacy for the post of head of his region and took second place in the voting. He lost only to his former boss Eduard Rossel.

In 2007, Alexander Leonidovich became the secretary of the Bureau of the Council of the "Fair Russia" branch in the Sverdlovsk region. Subsequently, Burkov became a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from his party. In the Duma, he was the first deputy head of the Spravo Rossi faction.

In October 2017, President Putin appointed Burkov as Acting Governor of the Omsk Region. On September 14, 2018, the politician took office as governor.

Alexander Leonidovich does not like to share information about his personal life. He is married. He has been married to his wife Tatyana for a quarter of a century. At one time, Alexander and Tatiana studied together at the university. Currently, Burkov's wife does not work, she gives all her time to the family. A married couple is raising a son, Volodya.

The Burkovs are fond of cross-country skiing. Another hobby of the governor is hunting.
