Jaime Montjardin is a famous Brazilian TV director, screenwriter and producer. He is the author of many popular TV series. "Clone" is one of the last telenovelas of Monjardin, which literally conquered the whole world, and the actors who played in the series became real stars.

Biography

Jaime was born in Sao Paulo in 1956. His father (Andre Matarazzo) was a successful entrepreneur, and his mother Maiza Monjardim was a creative person: an actress, singer and composer.

Unfortunately, the boy lost his father early, and his mother often toured. Until the age of seventeen, Jaime lived in a children's boarding school in Spain. Then his mother took him, and he went on tour with her. In a short time, they managed to live in Morocco, Switzerland and Italy. Despite frequent travels, the mother tried to give her son a good education, he was an inquisitive boy and studied in good educational institutions.

Jaime loved his mother very much and was proud of her. According to the future director, it was she who was his main example and teacher in life.

After Maiza Monjardim passed away, the grown-up Jaime made a documentary about his mother, which was called “Just Maiza”. This was Monjardim's first work as a director.

In 1979, this picture brought Jaime a victory at the Penedo festival.

Career

In 1983, the first series of Monjardim was released - "The Iron Hand". In the same year, the director began to collaborate with the Globo film studio. Over the next five years, he filmed more than ten telenovelas.

Among his works of that time, it is worth noting the series: "Senorita", "The Right to Love", "I Returned to You", "Rocky Sanctifier" and others.

In 1988, Monjardim became the artistic director of the Manchete TV channel, which is a direct competitor to Globo. While working here, Jaime directed such series as: "Song of the Mermaids", "Japanese Kananga", "Pantanal" and others.

The director was very popular with his TV series "The Land of Love". This is a touching historical telenovela about the poor Italians-immigrants, their love and hard life during the reign of President Campos-Salez.

The director explains his success with his love for life and people, he is obsessed with acquiring new knowledge and skills, he studies all the time and loves to travel the world.

Clone

However, the biggest creative success of Jaime Monjardim is the series "Clone". The audience loved it so much that many countries bought the rights to show it and the series is still broadcast from time to time on various channels around the world.

The script for "Clone" was written by Gloria Perez, and Monjardim became the director and producer of the project.

The scale of the series was fascinating, because the shooting took place not only in Brazil, but also in Morocco.

Against the backdrop of colorful oriental landscapes, viewers follow the love story of Jadi and Lucas, a Muslim woman and an indigenous modern Brazilian.

In addition to the novel of two lovers, the series raises many important topics: the relationship between fathers and children, the difference in mentality, drug addiction and alcoholism, modern scientific achievements and the attitude of the church to the "miracles of science."

The success of the series was simply overwhelming, which brought many awards to the project and worldwide fame for the actors who starred in "Clone".

Personal life

The director is a fan of the fair sex and quite an addicted person. Almost every series ended for Monjardim with a new novel.

Jaime was officially married four times, the first three wives of the director were actresses involved in his projects.

The director has four children from different marriages. Now the wife of Monjardim is the singer Tane Mare. They had a daughter in 2010, who was named after their grandmother - Maiza.

Currently, the director continues to work and delight the viewer with his new projects.
