He was smiling very much, so in almost all the photographs he looked joyful, but for some reason his green eyes remained sad. Twenty years have passed since Igor Sorin, a famous musician, poet, favorite of millions, died.
Childhood
Igor was born in 1969 in the family of Moscow intellectuals Svetlana Sorina and Vladimir Raiberg. The boy's father worked as an engineer, but was a creative person. He painted beautifully and was a member of the Writers' Union. These abilities were passed on to his son, but for the stage name, the artist took his mother's surname. So Igor Rayberg turned into Igor Sorin.
According to his mother's recollections, the son grew up restless and curious. He tried everything himself, he was not stopped by the danger. He boldly clung to the train at full speed, rafted down the river, he was attracted by the hottest places in the city. But besides this, the boy developed a talent for music and poetry early. People around him were surprised at times not by children's poems. He had no equal in improvisation.
Sorin decided to take part in screen tests for the film about the adventures of Tom Sawyer and, having passed a serious selection, got the main role. But at the very last moment, on the recommendation of Nikita Mikhalkov, the film's director Stanislav Govorukhin replaced the boy with another actor. The offense was so great that Igor jumped from the second floor. There were no injuries. To somehow smooth the situation, the boy was given the opportunity to play another small role in this film.
Becoming a musician
After the 8th grade, Igor entered the radio mechanics technical school. He did not pursue the goal of getting an education, he was just going to while away the time until the army. The young man created a musical group that enjoyed success in the technical school and even represented him at various city competitions. The career of an aspiring musician helped to make the right choice. After graduating from college, he became a student at Gnesinka. I stopped at the department of musical comedy.
In the third year of the university Sorin held a casting of participants for the musical "Metro" staged by the Warsaw Drama Theater. The rehearsals were short, and the troupe set off to conquer Europe and America. The tour could not be called successful; film critics noted the low professional level of the artists. In the United States, Igor was offered training, the only one of all. Frightened by the distance, the absence of relatives and friends in a foreign country, and he refused. He returned to Moscow and continued his studies. He combined his education with work on television. For the first time Sorin appeared on the screen in the program "The Director for Himself", where he became an actor and co-author.
"Ivanushki International"
During his American tour, Igor met Andrei Grigoriev-Appolonov. This meeting became fateful for both. A few years later, the country learned about a new musical group created by Igor Matvienko, which, in addition to Andrei, included Kirill Andreev and Sorin. In 1994, fame came to the musicians. The collective has traveled all the cities of the former Soviet Union on tour. They gathered thousands of halls and stadiums. The release of the video for the song "Clouds" made the guys stars. The girls bombarded them with letters, sent gifts and stormed hotels. In the first four years, the group managed to release two albums, which instantly scattered.
Solo career
Popularity is not always pleasant. Sorin complained to his colleagues that there was absolutely no time left for creativity, but he wanted self-realization. He felt the need to read books, write poetry and reflect on topics of philosophy. In 1998, the soloist left the band and began his own career. It turned out to be less successful. The result of the joint work of Igor and the "Formation DSM" team was the recording of the only song "Rusalka". With her, he planned to open his first solo album. But the musician did not have time to do anything else. An unexpected death prevented him.
Mysterious fall
The morning of September 1 was his last. In a rented apartment in one of the capital's high-rise buildings there was a studio, where the musician came every day. At 7.10 am he was found lying on the ground. The singer fell from the balcony of the sixth floor. He was still alive, doctors fought for his health for four days. The operation carried out for many hours was considered successful. But Sorin's heart could not stand it. Before his death, he briefly came to his senses, but did not blame anyone for what had happened, he said that he did it himself. The musician's suicide note was found in the apartment, and those around him talked a lot about the depression that had overtaken him recently.
This death led to many rumors and speculation. How could a young talented guy, full of creative plans, voluntarily leave their life? Many thought it was murder. When it became known that the musician was a member of the occult organization of alternative medicine, one of the versions received a religious orientation. Many years later, Matvienko himself said in an interview that the artist "was ruined by drug addiction." But at the time of the fall, nothing was found in his blood. The reason for the "flight", about which he wrote in his farewell note, remained a mystery to everyone.
Personal life
Sorin only twice had long-term relationships in his life. At the beginning of his studies at the Gnessin School, he met with actress Valentina Smirnova. But Igor's tour put everything in its place. The separation ended their romance. A few years later, the musician met his new love - student Sasha Chernikova, the future conductor. The couple rented an apartment and looked quite happy. Sorin dedicated his parting lines to his parents and his girlfriend.
The life of a musician and poet was cut short at the age of 28, leaving unfulfilled plans in his creative biography. Many listeners still regret his departure from the popular band and consider the first line-up of the Ivanushki International group to be the most stellar. Sorin's admirers will remember his work at the Green Monkey Theater. After his childhood debut, he continued his contribution to the art of cinema. In "The Adventures of Petrov and Vasechkin" he voiced the main character. On New Year's Eve 1998, viewers saw Sorin in the musical film Old Songs about the Main.
