Future plans

The films "Kung Fu Panda" and "Kung Fu Panda - 2" in 2009 and 2012, respectively, were nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Animated Film". The stories about the adventures of the unlucky panda bear, who became a great master of kung fu, fell in love with many. At the same time, back in May 2011, almost immediately after the filming of the second film, screenwriters Jonathan Aybel and Glenn Berger announced that the return of Jean-Claude Van Damme is possible in the third part of the epic. In addition, according to them, Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris can take part in the continuation of the cartoon. We will remind, the cast, voicing the warlike animal masters, is already stellar: Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan and others.

Earlier, in 2010, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that a total of six films about the adventures of Poe the panda were planned. At the same time, however, according to him, the further fate of the franchise will depend entirely on the success of the third film (that is, if the fourth part fails, it may not happen). In 2012, Chief Creative Officer Bill Damashch confirmed the upcoming filming of Kung Fu Panda 3. Production of the painting began in August 2013.

By the way, the most impatient fans of the franchise may well enjoy the new adventures of Poe the panda right now. On November 7, 2011, the premiere of the series "Kung Fu Panda: Amazing Legends" took place.

Filming

The film is produced by two companies at once - DreamWorks Animation and Shanghai Oriental DreamWorks. Part of the filming will take place in China. By the way, this is the first ever case of a joint American-Chinese full-length animation project. In order for the film to be released in the Celestial Empire, the scriptwriters work in close cooperation with the Chinese censors.

The cartoon will be directed by Jennifer Nelson, produced by Melissa Cobb, and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro.

The release of the third film was originally planned for March 18, 2016. However, in 2013 it was announced that the premiere date was shifted to 23 December 2015. "Continuing his legendary and flying adventure, Po must face two extremely epic, but very different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home," - says the description of the painting, published in License! Global magazine.
