The film by Renata Litvinova became one of the most anticipated films in the competition program of the Moscow International Film Festival. It was shown in the hall of the Khudozhestvenny cinema and attracted maximum attention: there was not a single empty seat. After the demonstration of the picture, a lot of people gathered in the foyer. Most of the people were critics who expressed their opinion about the film "Rita's Last Tale".

The impressions of the tape were highly divided. Someone considered the picture "Rita's Last Tale", the parable of death, an opening film, they said that it was filmed at a high artistic level and that only great masters are not afraid of such an acute and delicate topic. At the other extreme, opinions about the "shamanic" share in the film prevailed, critics spoke of the alternation of beautiful pictures that did not in any way gather into a common frame. The constant smoking in the frame was also especially censured.

For example, Maria Bezruk, who is a member of the board of film critics and film experts, perceived Renata Litvinova's film "Rita's Last Fairy Tale" as a film for viewing in a narrow family circle. The critic said that, along with full-length tapes, this work should not be shown, and, moreover, should not claim any awards. Maria Bezruk even allowed herself to call the picture "profound crap."

The critic Rita Wamm took the creation of Litvinova softer. She believes that the actress-director has achieved such a level where she can simply be in the frame and behind the scenes and not do anything significant. The film critic suggested that Renata Litvinova sought to create a movie, after watching which the viewer must come up with what the director wanted to say.

On the other hand, Marina Latysheva was delighted with the dialogues and accurate life hits in the presented picture. The film critic even had a question whether Renata Litvinova herself was scared to shoot and act in such a movie.

The picture itself is based on the fact that the heroine of Litvinova - Death (an employee of the morgue) is closely watching Margarita Gaultier in the hospital (performed by actress Olga Kuzina). There is no active development of the storyline, the main forces during the filming were thrown into creating a surreal setting and introducing strange characters (for example, stuffed animals) into the body of the picture.
