After receiving a certificate of secondary education, Krainova entered the Russian VGIK, where the leadership of the university even agreed to make concessions to her, allowing only half of the cost of education to be paid. Here she studied on the same course with Ivan Soloviev and Anna Makhaylovskaya, with whom she still maintained warm and friendly relations.

The theatrical portfolio of the actress today contains several productions, among which there are her graduation works "Three Sisters" by Chekhov, "Fools" by Simon and "The Last" by Gorky, as well as the performances "The Game of Marriage", "The Uninvited Guest" and "… Third … ". It was for the last of these performances that Krainova became a laureate of the Gerasimova and Makarova Foundation prizes and the “Golden Leaf-2009” Prize.

Yana Krainova's cinematic debut took place in her student years, when she played a cameo role in the drama The Lost Empire (2008) directed by Karen Shakhnazarov.
