Emily Mortimer was born in the family of the famous English playwright John Mortimer. He has been married several times, so Emily has several half-siblings. Despite the different mothers, the children in their family lived in harmony, everyone maintained good relations.
The Mortimer girls attended St. Paul's School, where there was a theater group. But of them only one Emily became interested in the theater. Here she performed in various productions, and she really enjoyed being on stage, trying to establish contact with the audience.
After school, Emily was waiting for Oxford, the language department. She chose Russian as one of the languages, which later brought her to Russia. She was also interested in Russian drama and theater. She lived in Russia for some time, and after marriage she left with her husband for America.
