If you plan to stay in Norway for more than three months, you need to obtain a residence permit. It can be permanent or temporary. The documents required to obtain a residence permit must be submitted to the Norwegian Embassy or Consulate.
It is necessary
- - international passport;
- - birth certificate;
- - confirmation of the provision of housing;
- - a receipt for payment of the visa fee.
Instructions
Step 1
Get a permanent residence permit if:
- have immediate family members in Norway for the purpose of family reunification (wife with husband or parents with children);
- one of the parents at the time of your birth was a citizen of Norway;
- You are an employee of a Norwegian shipping company and have been working on board a vessel registered in the Norwegian Shipping Register for at least four of the last six years prior to the application.
Step 2
Get a temporary residence permit for up to two years if you:
- a student and studying in Norway (for the period of study);
- an athlete (for sports);
- a researcher invited by a scientific or educational institution;
- a professional creative worker.
Step 3
Get a temporary residence permit for 9 months if your children live in Norway permanently. This point does not apply to parents of students, as foreign students have a temporary residence permit in Norway.
