As a result of the Crimean referendum, some countries of the world decided to impose sanctions against Russia. First of all, they affected Russian and Ukrainian officials who were involved in separatist actions in Ukraine.

The European Union has imposed sanctions on certain representatives of Russia and Ukraine. This list includes 33 people. They were banned from obtaining visas to the European Union. Canada also chose to freeze the assets of officials if they were discovered, and also banned some politicians from Russia and Ukraine from entering their country.

The sanctions planned by France meant the termination of the contract for the supply of helicopter-carrying dock ships to the Russian Navy. This contract was worth $ 1.2 billion. The head of the French Foreign Ministry, Laurent Fabius, said that if Putin did not stop carrying out his activities, the deliveries would be canceled. In addition, in addition to terminating their contract, the French called on the British to do the same.

Tokyo previously negotiated with the Russian Federation on easing the visa regime, on some investments, on the use of outer space for peaceful purposes, as well as on the prevention of military activity that could pose a threat. Now these negotiations have been suspended. From now on, the Japanese are watching with caution how such a political environment could affect the supply of Russian oil and gas to this country.

Australia has dealt with Russian and Ukrainian officials involved in a Russian occupation policy that threatens Ukraine's integrity in much the same way as the EU and Canada. Politicians were banned from entering this country. In addition, financial sanctions were imposed against them. The list of persons falling under these measures included 12 people. But Switzerland chose not to intervene in this conflict and refrained from imposing sanctions against Russia, wishing to remain neutral.

Not so long ago, Serbia received a recommendation from the European Union regarding the supply of certain products to Russia. Serbian officials decided that they would not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, but they would not provide subsidies for the export of goods either. Dragan Marsicanin, a member of the non-parliamentary opposition Democratic Party of Serbia, is confident that such actions can be called a kind of soft sanctions, and journalists say that such a decision will negatively affect the Serbian economy.
