Childhood
Cinematography must fulfill an educational function. Under this motto, children's films were shot in the Soviet Union. Often the scripts of the paintings were created on the basis of folk tales and legends. In the middle of the twentieth century, all schoolchildren knew the Arabian tale about the owner of the magic lamp, Aladdin, and his bride, Princess Budur. It is not at all surprising that the Gorky Film Studio decided to shoot a corresponding film. The aspiring actress Dodo Chogovadze was invited to the main female role. As the subsequent course of events showed, the choice was correct.
The future film actress was born on February 1, 1951 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Tbilisi. My father served at the Georgian National Theater. Mother worked as a teacher at a music school. The child grew up surrounded by love and care. From an early age, the girl demonstrated aptitude for dancing and music. Dodo stood out among her peers with a strict beauty of her face, a stately figure and graceful movements. At the age of seven, she began to study in a choreographic studio.
Professional activity
At school, Dodo studied well, despite the fact that dancing classes took a lot of time and effort. At one point, an attractive girl was noticed by the assistants of the Tbilisi Film Studio. They were looking for performers for children's films. Chogovadze was invited to the casting for the painting "The Little Knights". The ten-year-old girl was approved for the role. The film was released in 1963. Viewers and critics spoke positively about the work of the aspiring actress. In the same year, Dodo auditioned for the main role in a film based on Lermontov's novel A Hero of Our Time. But it didn't come to filming.
When the girl was fourteen years old, she was invited to the main role in the project "Aladdin's Magic Lamp". The shooting took place without incident or disruption. Dodo organically and naturally reincarnated into an oriental beauty. The film is colorful, easy to watch and musical. The picture was dubbed into foreign languages. East Germany even released a set of postcards with photographs of the actors. It seemed that the girl was assured of a successful career as a film actress. However, the circumstances were different.
Personal life scenario
After school, Dodo received a specialized education at the Tbilisi Theater Institute. She starred in the film "Night Witches in the Sky". And there were no more invitations from the directors. Chogovadze devoted her whole life to teaching at her own institute.
The personal life of a graduated actress was not very smooth. She married a famous musician. The couple had a daughter. However, three years later, the husband and wife broke up.
