When looking for a cartoon in the genre of "adventure", the viewer probably wants to first of all enjoy a dynamic, eventful plot. In the cartoon "Fantastic Mr. Fox" such a plot is at the heart, but it is supplemented with many more advantages, thanks to which the cartoon can be watched over and over again.
Plot
The cartoon "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is based on the book of the same name by R. Dahl. His surname is little known in Russia, but suffice it to say that the films "Gremlins" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" have been created based on the works of this author - and it will immediately become clear that one can count on an interesting literary basis in this case as well.
At first glance, the plot of the cartoon is quite simple and at the same time truly adventurous and exciting. Mr. Fox, who in his youth was involved in stealing chickens, got married, found a quieter job (became a journalist) and seemed to settle down. But as a result of a set of circumstances 12 years later, he again went on the warpath with farmers who live nearby. The scale of the battles is so great that Fox gathers a real team of companions, capable of repelling cruel and unprincipled people. Adventure lovers will see clever strategies, thrilling chases and even explosions on the screen.
Characters (edit)
However, the advantages of the cartoon are not limited to this. First of all, it is worth noting the elaboration of the characters of all the characters. Unlike many cartoon stories, ambiguous characters have been created here, which cannot be ranked as positive and negative. These are complex natures who, as in real life, do stupid things, work on themselves, suppress animal instincts for the sake of living in society and “let go” in order to preserve their living nature.
The cartoon characters were voiced by George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, so it's worth watching it in its original language, with subtitles.
So, along with adventure, viewers will see a story that touches on the themes of the midlife crisis, fathers and children, responsibility and the desire for freedom. Swinging at eternal themes, the creators of the cartoon could not go into moralizing, on the contrary, the cartoon turned out to be funny, lively, ironic, going beyond templates.
An attentive viewer who is able to notice details will receive special pleasure. There are many of them in Fantastic Mr. Fox. The cartoon is a puppet, filmed using the stop-motion technique, so more than a hundred people painstakingly worked on each character.
Fantastic Mr. Fox was nominated for an Oscar for Best Soundtrack and Best Animated Feature.
The world of Mr. Fox, so similar to the world of people, has been worked out to the smallest detail, so you can revisit the cartoon again to appreciate the furnishings of the houses, the clothes of the characters and their stunningly elaborated facial expressions. Aesthetes will surely like the 70s-style picture that is characteristic of the director (similar style in his films "Moon Kingdom", "The Tennenbaum Family", "Train to Darjeeling") and corresponds to the time when the book about Mr. Fox.
