Socialization as a concept

Man is a social being. It was living with relatives that led our ancestors to the creation and mastery of speech, writing, developed a craving for beauty and the expression of this in various types of art: music, sculpture, literature, etc.

If we summarize the above, then we can come to the conclusion that socialization is the process of mastering the abilities and skills by an individual for an optimal and comfortable existence in society. A social person is one who is in harmony with other people, knows how to find a common language with them, receive and give knowledge, share experience.

Types of socialization

  • Primary
  • Group
  • Gender
  • Re-socialization
  • Early
  • Organized

Primary includes the time interval from the moment a child is born to his transformation into a mature adult personality. Group implies socialization in a specific social group. It can be by interest or age range. Gender socialization is gender segregation. Resalization, also referred to as secondary, implies a change in a previously established pattern of behavior. This can be closely related to group socialization, when a person falls into another social group or as a result of a change in priorities. Early socialization occurs when an individual tries to adapt to conditions that do not suit him in certain parameters. For example, a young child tries to appear older and smarter in order to match his parents' friends and colleagues. Finally, organized socialization is what a person must perform when interacting with a small group of people. This happens in the family, circle, school, when entering college or when applying for a job.

Institutions of socialization

  • A family
  • Friends, classmates, classmates, colleagues
  • Educational institution
  • Legal system
  • media
  • Religion

The processes that take place during upbringing, training and employment, allow the individual to form and gain knowledge and skills; also at this time he goes through the stages of socialization. In each specific case, he plays his social role and gains experience. But there is not only a positive result. You need to be able to adapt. This is an important condition not only for a comfortable coexistence. It can also lead to deosocialization, that is, the loss of the accumulated experience by the individual. As a rule, this happens due to irreversible and serious reasons: illness, stress, force majeure, the elements.

You need to understand that you will have to interact with other people constantly. When studying, performing work or family responsibilities, shopping in stores, or contacting social services. And you need to be able to do it. Society and its rules cannot be ignored. A worthy attitude and respect, first of all, will be deserved by the one who shows it in relation to another person. To do this, you just need to comply with the norms of an ethical and moral nature established in society.

Socialization is important for every person. It is she who allows you to acquire those skills that will allow you to comfortably and normally coexist in the world, to contact other people and gain a certain weight and status.
