"I was born on December 6, 2141. My parents named me Kirama. They told me about the planet of people, Earth. After all, I was born already on Mars, since the Earth became uninhabitable." - this is how a 12-year-old boy begins his fantasy novel. Why can our planet become uninhabitable and what can each of us do to make our common home cleaner?
Instructions
Step 1
Plastic. This material has firmly entered our life and today it is difficult to imagine an area in which plastic would not be used. However, the abundance of plastic in everyday life, in ordinary everyday life of a person, negatively affects both the health of each individual person and the health of our planet, worsening the already not too optimistic ecological situation. What can be done? Get a nice fabric shopping bag. Such an accessory can be sewn by hand or to order in a sewing studio. A shopping bag can perfectly complement an image and become an exquisite and, most importantly, a harmless alternative to non-aesthetic plastic bags that we bring into our homes almost every day along with food, household chemicals and other goods. In addition, it will be useful for the family's budget, especially if this budget is small, since the plastic bag needs to be paid, while the shopping bag will last a long time and can be used more than once.
You can refuse plastic disposable tableware, which is customary to take with you to a picnic. Instead of such utensils, use good old metal bowls and mugs, spoons and forks. They can be used many times because, unlike plastic utensils, they do not release toxic substances into food when reused. This way you can take care of your health while reducing the amount of plastic waste.
People from developed European countries are actively promoting the use of plastic dishes in everyday life: for table setting and for baby food, arguing that glassware tends to break. However, saving on the health of your own, your loved ones, on the health of your children is at least not reasonable. None of the townsfolk can say with certainty that when plastic interacts with hot or sour food, a chemical reaction does not occur, as a result of which toxic substances can be released, as well as none of the townsfolk know whether safety is guaranteed by a quality mark on plastic dishes. Glass, stainless steel, porcelain have been proving their practicality and safety for decades.
Step 2
Rubbish. Unfortunately, not all utilities supply collection points with waste containers made of different materials. Take a closer look, if there are such containers in your city, be sure to sort the garbage: plastic separately, paper separately, glass separately, food waste separately.
In addition, it is very easy for every person to make our planet cleaner, to protect the environment from pollution. It is enough to bring a candy wrapper, a paper napkin and so on to the nearest trash can.
Disposal of batteries and household appliances. Each time we open the packaging of batteries (popularly, batteries) or a box with household appliances, we see a warning icon or inscription informing that these products cannot be disposed of with general household waste. Find a collection point for the recycling of household appliances and batteries in your city, or contact any home appliance store where such goods may be secretly accepted.
Step 3
Smoking. A young man reprimanded a smoking couple at a bus stop in front of his pregnant wife. The young people looked at the man in bewilderment, answering that they were not going to litter, but would throw their cigarette butts into the trash can. It did not even occur to them that the smoke of cigarettes poisons the air, penetrates the lungs of people around, including those who especially need care and protection: children, pregnant women, which has a detrimental effect on the environment and not only health smokers, but also those who are not fortunate enough to be near a smoking subject. Smokers flooded public places: streets, entrances of houses, courtyards of high-rise buildings, playgrounds, alleys and parks, bus stops. If you are a smoker and have never thought about how your habit affects the environment, think about it and give up cigarettes.
Step 4
Gardeners, gardeners. Every autumn, tons of fallen leaves are raked up, collected in huge heaps and small heaps, set on fire and burned. The smoke poisons the environment and, in addition, isted valuable raw materials for fertilizing the soil. It is much better to leave the fallen leaves to rot until spring, and in the spring to organize a compost pit on your summer cottage or garden plot, where you can send the remnants of last year's fallen leaves.
Step 5
Towels and napkins. Use cloth towels and napkins instead of paper towels. It is both aesthetically pleasing and practical, as well as environmental and health benefits.
Step 6
Household chemicals. Believe it or not, the most common mustard powder handles kitchen contaminants, from dishes to kitchen towels, better than any modern synthetic detergent. It removes grease, disinfects dishes, and washes kitchen towels perfectly. Regular table salt does an excellent job with washing, however, you will have to fight with serious dirt, but salt copes with ordinary washing easily.
Step 7
Food. If you are still not a vegetarian, arrange vegetarian days for your family once a week or several times a month. This will not solve the problem with water on Earth, but will significantly reduce its consumption, since the needs of animal husbandry account for a high percentage of drinking water consumption. Buy and cook as much food as you eat. Don't throw food away. Resources are spent on food production, if we cook economically, then resources will be spent more wisely.
To preserve the supply of drinking water on Earth, simply turn off the tap in time. Not because the counter, but in order not to waste a resource. Turn off the tap when not using water: while brushing your teeth or lathering your body in the shower, for example.
Collect bread crumbs. Just sweep them not into the trash can, but into a glass or jar. For this purpose, you can take glasses from store sour cream. In winter and spring, you can feed these crumbs to birds. Go for a walk with your child and take this glass with crumbs with you. Pour some into the feeders and toss to a flock of pigeons or sparrows.
As you can see, it is not so difficult to do your bit to protect the environment. And for this it is not necessary to participate in pickets, sign petitions, change from car to bike, just think a little and adjust your lifestyle and your habits.
