Today more and more young people want to be useful and become volunteers. The volunteer movement is gaining momentum in almost all areas of life where volunteer help is needed. And this is not a tribute to fashion, this is a civic position. You don't have to have a lot of money and opportunities to help. You just have to be not indifferent to the problems of strangers, be able to empathize, serve as an example, and achieve results.
Instructions
Step 1
Think about what specific direction you would like to pursue. If you enjoy interacting with children, you can visit orphanages or hospitals. Such activities include communicating with children, holding holidays, finding money and things to improve the lives of children. If you care about the fate of lonely old people, you can visit nursing homes or work as a social services assistant in the city. You will have to become a listener for retirees, an assistant in solving everyday problems, consultants on financial and legal issues. Animal shelters are constantly in need of volunteer help. It is necessary to walk with animals, take care of them, feed them, treat them and find new owners for them. Environmental movements attract volunteers to carry out large-scale actions, for example, cleaning parks and forests, putting out fires. A new volunteer movement began to attract volunteers to search for missing children. There are many social movements now and everyone has the opportunity to find a direction to their liking.
Step 2
Look for a volunteer movement in your city. You can find such people on social forums or websites. As a rule, you can always find there announcements of future events and trips, reports on the work done, requests for help. There you can offer your services as well. Write a letter to the leader of the movement, in which you indicate what you could be of help. Let's say you are planning a trip to an orphanage, and you have a large roomy car and are ready to transport the necessary things. Or you can give children a quilling master class, show a play, play football, make girls fashionable haircuts, teach boys parkour. Or maybe you are ready to donate some money or buy something. In any case, take the initiative and you will definitely be invited to the group.
Step 3
Find a charity that employs volunteers. Working for a foundation will give you the opportunity to gain experience in social work. And although at the initial stage you will not be entrusted with serious matters, you will be able to see from the inside how good deeds are done. And this is really hard work. Subsequently, you can change your volunteer work to an official one, becoming a full member of the fund (there is a large turnover of staff due to the large amount of work and low pay).
