Starting conditions

When it comes to Siberia, the conversation revolves around natural resources and a harsh climate. Only knowledgeable people, and even then infrequently, remember talented musicians and singers. Marina Aleksandrovna Shkolnik was born on August 20, 1959 in an intelligent family. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Novokuznetsk. My father worked in the regional committee of material and technical supply. Mother taught foreign languages at the Kuznetsk Industrial Institute and translated technical texts. Older sister Olga was already growing up in the house.

Marina demonstrated musical and vocal abilities from an early age. Mother played the piano well. At the age of four, the girl was shown three basic chords, and she became interested in music. In a secondary school, the future singer studied well, and at the same time attended a music school. She actively participated in amateur art shows. In high school, Shkolnik began to perform as a soloist of the vocal-instrumental ensemble "Presto". And even became the winner of the regional song contest, which took place in Kemerovo.

Professional activity

After leaving school, Marina received a specialized education at the Kemerovo School of Music. It is important to note that in the mid-70s, the composer and singer Mikhail Shufutinsky worked at the Kemerovo Philharmonic, who created the vocal and musical group "Leisya, Song". It was he who "spied" the promising performer. Already in 1977, Shkolnik became a full-fledged member of the ensemble. Within a few months, she began to perform the popular songs "Wedding Ring", "Where Have You Been", "Our Summer", "The Wagon Is Swaying".

In those days, they performed "live" on the Soviet stage. The performers simply did not know about phonograms. Marina basically sang only in her own voice. Musical creativity brought not only moral satisfaction, but also a decent material reward. The vocalist's career was developing quite successfully. However, at the end of the 80s, the team broke up. The leader went to America. Someone stayed in Moscow. Marina was invited to perform in Japan. Almost six years, starting in 1994, Shkolnik spent in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Recognition and privacy

Returning to her homeland at the beginning of the 2000s, Marina began to restore old ties. The former members of the Leisya Pesnya group, who survived, gladly responded to her call to reunite. Since 2010, the retro group has been actively involved in concert activities.

The singer's personal life did not turn out well. At one time, she married the band's guitarist Maxim Kapitanovsky. The husband and wife lived under the same roof for three years. Divorced. In 2013, the ex-husband passed away. Marina did not manage to find a permanent life partner. Until now, she remains free.
