The miraculous icon of the Mother of God called "The Tsaritsa" was painted in the 17th century. This small image of the Blessed Virgin is known for the healing of cancer patients, therefore pilgrimages of believers who yearn to receive mercy from the "Tsaritsa" are tirelessly made to it. Where is this icon and what else is it known for?
Location of the icon in Greece
Today, the original of the miraculous image of the Mother of God is kept on the holy Mount Athos. The icon is in the cathedral church of the Vatopedi monastery, to the left of the royal gates. "The Tsaritsa" is an image of the Most Pure Virgin Mary in a crimson robe, who sits on a throne and holds the baby Jesus in her arms. Jesus holds a scroll in his left hand, and in his right hand he blesses the people from the icon. The Mother of God points to the Savior with her right hand, and behind her are two angels with outstretched wings.
In addition to the "Tsaritsa", on the territory of the Vatopedi monastery there is also another relic - the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos.
This icon is iconographic - that is, most pure, most blameless and all-merciful. Such epithets are usually accompanied by such images of the Virgin, and their common feature is the sitting of Mary on the throne, which symbolizes her glory and royal majesty. The icon shows its miraculous power, healing people suffering from cancer. Her first healed "patient" was a man who lived in the 17th century - since then, an ardent prayer appeal to "The Tsaritsa" has saved many seemingly doomed people.
Location of the icon in Moscow
In 1995, the miraculous image was brought to Russia and placed in the children's cancer center on the Kashirskoye highway at the request of the Community of Mercy of St. John of Kronstadt. With the blessing of the governor of the Vatopedi monastery, Archimandrite Ephraim, an exact copy was made from the Athos icon. It was written with observance of prayer times, the canon and solemn divine services, after which the "Tsaritsa", brought to the center, began to help sick children.
The children's condition began to improve rapidly, and the improvement could not be explained by a single dose of drugs and radiation.
On Christmas Day, the icon suddenly began to flow myrrh, filling the air with an unearthly fragrance. She was placed in the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos, where she pacified again, after which another miracle was performed - the "Tsaritsa" healed a guy who had been a drug addict for many years. After that, parents of children who were addicted to addictions began to turn to her. Today the icon is located at the former Novo-Alekseevsky monastery in the Church of All Saints (Krasnoselsky lane). Periodically, the image is brought to the oncological center, where prayers are served in front of it.
