Step 1
In order to obtain the right to legally reside in the country, you must obtain the appropriate permission from the German authorities. This can be a visa, a permit for an indefinite or urgent stay in Germany.
Step 2
The validity of a visa issued for a trip to Germany is 3 months. Multiple entry visa is valid for 5 years. It allows a person to live in the country for three months once every six months.
Step 3
You can obtain an urgent residence permit in the country if you are going to study at a German educational institution or take language courses. A visa issued for university studies is valid for 2 years. If studies continue, the visa is extended for another 2 years. Upon graduation, the permit can be extended for 1 year to provide an opportunity to look for work. A person with a study visa can work for 90 days a year. In case of part-time employment, the period is increased to 180 days.
Step 4
An indefinite residence permit is a residence permit that gives the right to work without restrictions. To obtain a residence permit, you must have an urgent residence permit in the country for a period of at least 5 years, income sufficient for residence.
Step 5
If you marry a German citizen, you will be issued an urgent residence permit, which will be renewed in the future. If within 3 years the marriage is not dissolved, you will master the German language at least at the everyday level, and there are no grounds for expelling you from the country, you will be issued an unlimited residence permit.
Step 6
If the marriage lasted at least 2 years, in case of divorce and having a residence permit, your residence permit can be extended for one year. If, after the dissolution of your marriage, you are able to provide for yourself, then you can get an unlimited residence permit.
