On February 24, Hollywood will host an Oscar ceremony for the 91st time, but the name of the host of this grandiose event in the cinema world has not yet been named. It may so happen that for the first time in 30 years the awarded stars will go on stage without an invitation. Scandalous headlines only stir up interest in the upcoming event: "There is no one to hold the ceremony", "Nobody wants to host the presentation show", "The host refused due to low fees", "They do not have time to find worthy candidates", etc.
The organizers of the event really failed to find a suitable host for the spectacular ceremony. Every year, the most famous actors and comedians were invited to this honorable role, who can withstand many hours of standing on stage. They did not let the audience get bored for a minute during the ceremony, sparklingly greeting each honored guest. However, Oscar-2019 is really still in limbo.
Scandal
Alarming rumors about the absence of the host spread in the media after the situation with the actor Kevin Hart, which occurred in December 2018. Comedian and showman Hart, starring in the films Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Spy One and a Half, Trip Together, was invited and approved as a host after a long and careful selection of candidates by the organizers of the Oscar.
However, Internet users did not allow him to enter the stage. Hart's statements were publicly released from social media archives, namely his Twitter account, which were quickly described as homophobic. And he had no choice but to refuse the honorary position of the presenter. At the request of the angry public, he deleted the scandalous tweets.
At this time, his film "1 + 1: A Hollywood Story" was announced at the box office since the beginning of January, and the publishers did not need the negative hype with the performer of one of the main roles. They tried to quickly hush up the scandal. But the rejection of the ceremony has already been made public. And, although the actor again began to be mentioned in publications as the host of the Oscars, but Kevin in the program Good Morning America (ABC channel) clearly explained: he is not participating in the show in 2019. As he explained, today he simply does not have enough time to properly prepare for the many hours of performance.
What's next?
After Hart's refusal, a month passed, the organizers did not make any statements. And all because, as it turned out, they were confident in the comedian's return. According to Variety, the organizers expected the actor to publicly demonstrate sincere remorse in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. However, this did not happen. Yes, and the host of the program DeGeneres (by the way, twice stood on the stage as the host of the ceremony) accidentally let slip that the American Film Academy is counting on a truce with Hart in any way. As she noted, exactly such a phrase was said to her by one of the representatives of the academy. But it didn't work out.
However, for the Oscar ceremonies, similar departures are a familiar situation. Therefore, everyone calmly awaited the news about the new presenter, no less charismatic and popular. But there were no messages. Until now, the organizers have remained silent, and only rare rumors are leaked to journalists.
How will the ceremony take place in 2019?
According to one version, the show will be entrusted to host the stars themselves, who will be among the candidates for the award.
Another suggestion was also voiced that, perhaps, a group of eminent cultural figures will come out for presentation. They will take turns and will announce the names of the winners in each of the nominations.
Many sources categorically state that in 2019 the ceremony will indeed take place without a formal presenter. There was a similar case in the history of the show, three decades ago, and this venture ended not very pleasantly. In 1989, no one went on stage. Then the event was opened by a musical number with the actress in the role of Snow White. After that, the American Film Academy for a long time defended the copyright for the cartoon images in court against the Disney Corporation. And the producer Allan Carr (the creator of the musical film "Grease") left Hollywood after the show with a trampled reputation.
As many publications suggest, this time the viewers will see an unpredictable show with a whole crowd of stars who will tear envelopes on stage and joke about Trump. However, who dares to enter the sparkling "crowd" and participate in this hasty adventure is still unclear.
There is talk of musicians such as Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton and Kendrick Lamar. And, if they are among the Oscar nominees, then they will have two days to prepare for going on stage.
The names of the contenders for the honorary prize in 24 nominations will be announced on January 22, and the awards ceremony will be held on February 24.
