American pop singer Christina Perry is known outside the United States primarily as the performer of the song "A Thousand Years", which sounded in the film "Twilight. Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. " Although this, of course, is not her only hit. At the moment, Perry has three studio albums.
early years
Christina Perry was born in 1986. She spent her childhood in Bensalem, a small town in Pennsylvania (USA).
Christina's parents are Maria and Dante Perry. Christina also has an older brother, Nick, a rock musician quite well-known in North America (he is one of the founders of the Silvertide rock group).
Christina learned to play the guitar when she was still a teenager - at the age of sixteen.
In 2004, she graduated from a Catholic school, after which she studied for a while in college to become a specialist in management and communications. But in the end, Perry dropped out of this college, deciding to connect her life with songwriting.
At the age of 21, in search of her happiness, she first arrived in Los Angeles (which, by the way, is very far from Bensalem, literally on the other side of the United States - the distance between these cities is more than 3,500 kilometers). Here she auditioned for various record companies. This did not bring any significant result, and she went back home.
Singing career
After a while, Christina Perry reappeared in Los Angeles. She rented an apartment here, and to make ends meet, got a job as a waitress in a restaurant. And after work, she continued to write her songs …
The first success came to Christina Perry thanks to the composition "Jar of Hearts", composed by her in 2009. This song was used as an accompaniment to her friend's dance number, Keltie Knight. It was a performance in the rather famous US TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" ("So you think you can dance"). After this performance was shown on TV, Christina's song became an instant hit. It was posted on the Internet, and in a month it was downloaded about a hundred thousand times. Plus, pretty soon this song hit the main American Billboard Hot 100 music chart.
This prompted record labels to turn their attention to the aspiring singer, and on July 21, 2010, Christina was signed to Atlantic Records.
Already in November of the same 2010 Perry recorded and released her first official release - a mini-album entitled "The Ocean Way Sessions". It contained only 5 songs.
Then, in March 2011, the single "Arms" was released, and two months later, on May 10, 2011, the first full-length studio album, "Lovestrong", was presented to the public. In the Billboard 200 chart, this disc debuted at number 4 at once. And in the first week, 58,000 copies were sold.
In July 2011, Perry embarked on her first world tour, which lasted almost a year and included 71 performances.

In November 2012, the movie “Twilight. Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. " And the re-recorded version of the song "A Thousand Years" was included in the soundtrack to it. This option is interesting, in particular, because, in addition to Kerry's vocals, it also contains the vocals of American singer and actor Steve Casey.
In February 2013, Perry collaborated with To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people who are addicted to drugs, drugs and alcohol. As part of this collaboration, Perry, along with other stars, took part in a three-day charity tour.
On June 21 of the same 2013, Christina tweeted that she was going to release a second album. The first single from him was called "Human". It was posted online on November 18, 2013 via iTunes.
But listeners could enjoy the second album entirely only six months later - it was released on April 1, 2014 (its name is “Head or Heart”). And immediately after graduation, the singer went on a tour in support of him.
On June 9, another single from this album was released separately - "Burning Gold". And on August 1, a video for this song appeared.
On December 19, 2014, Christina Perry took part in the annual Christmas in Washington concert.
In May 2016, the singer wrote on Instagram that she was already working on her third audio album. However, in fact, a new disc (it is called "Songs for Carmella: Lullabies & Sing-a-Longs") appeared only in January 2019. Moreover, her concept was rather unusual.
