In early August 1998, a new musical group with the original name Hi-Fi appeared on the Russian stage. The team produced the effect of a bomb exploding. The future soloist of the Hi-Fi group was born in Novosibirsk, in mid-January 1974. The boy's parents had nothing to do with art - my mother worked as a patent engineer, my father was an assistant professor at one of the city's institutes.
Little Dima had many hobbies - he collected toy military equipment and cars, organized performances at home, copied famous pop performers. And Mitya also adored animals, he had a whole zoo at home - a guinea pig, fish, a hedgehog, two snakes. The boy was firmly convinced that he would become a veterinarian.
By the time of school graduation, the parents managed to convince their son that a veterinarian is not prestigious and the income of such specialists is low, there are no prospects for development. As a result, Dima entered the medical institute, on the course of pediatrics. But, having studied three courses, he suddenly took an academic leave and went to travel.
The first "point" was England - Mitya was invited there by friends from the theatrical university, which he attended as a free listener in parallel with the medical institute. From England, he went to the United States, where he became interested in writing music, mastered the English language perfectly. At that time, Dima Fomin earned his living independently.
Finding the way or how Dima Fomin came to music
A year of travel did not give Mitya Fomin an answer to the question - who to be. He returned to his native Novosibirsk, graduated from the medical institute, received a pediatrician diploma, but did not want to work by profession. Then Dmitry decided to try his hand at theatrical art, went to Moscow and visited the selection committees of 4 specialized institutes at once. He was accepted everywhere, and again had to make a choice. Dmitry Fomin decided to study at the acting course of VGIK.
And in this university there were problems with training. At that time, Mitya Fomin was already successfully developing his vocal career. And again the question of choice arose - theater or stage. This choice became more difficult for him, he could not make the decision to interrupt his education for a long time, torn between music and classes.
As a result, the choice fell on music. Dima had already seen the results of his work, it was already possible to speak about the popularity and demand in this direction. Acting, on the other hand, was just a ghostly dream, and only the praise of the teachers of VGIK, their confidence that there was talent and it was necessary to develop it, did not allow it to be abandoned.
Music
In Moscow, already as a student at VGIK, Mitya Fomin met his old friends, who invited him to become part of a new musical group. Studying at the theater institute required serious financial investments, Dima worked part-time wherever he could, but there was always not enough money. The musical project was promising, and Mitya, hoping to earn decent money, signed a contract with its creators for 10 years at once.
Together with Mitya, the group included young performers Oksana Oleshko and Timofey Pronkin. The very first composition of the young group and the video for it became a real bomb. The song was played on all radio channels, the right to rent the clip was bought by several TV channels at once.
The Hi-Fi group developed rapidly, touring began, invitations to perform at group concerts appeared, followed by awards ceremonies. Music took up more and more time, a long-term and profitable contract was signed. As a result, Mita Fomin had to give up his studies at VGIK.
The success was indisputable, but in 2008 Fomin decided to leave the team. He admitted that for 10 years he was only an animator of the songs of the composer of the Yesenin collective, and it was Yesenin who performed the solo parts. Mitya wanted to develop himself, because, according to Pavel Yesenin himself, Fomin's vocal abilities were excellent.
6 months after leaving Hi-Fi, Mitya Fomin worked with producer Maxim Fadeev, but then decided to independently "pave the way" in show business. In Free Floating, he has already received two Golden Gramophones, his compositions periodically enter the charts, he tours with soloists and performs in group concerts, tries himself as a TV presenter, starred in two reality shows.

Mitya Fomin has never been married, he has no children, but the press is very fond of writing about his amorous adventures. Journalists relished the news about his romances with such secular beauties as Katya Gordon, Ksenia Merz, Tanya Tereshina. On one occasion, he even took a DNA test in public to confirm or deny paternity. Ksenia Merz assured that she was growing a child in common with Mitya, but the test refuted her words.
