In Greece, in the homeland of Euclid Kurdzidis, he is called the "Russian Al-Pacino" because of his appearance and acting profession. And in Russia he is considered a foreigner, although for his creative merits he was given the title of Honored Artist of Russia and Honored Artist of South Ossetia.
This talented artist is good at the most diverse roles: in one film he appears as a lover, in another he portrays a bandit, and in the next he is reincarnated as an emperor.
Biography
Euclid Kurdzidis was born in 1968 in Essentuki. An extravagant name was given to him by his father, a mathematician by profession. And my mother instilled a love of art - she worked in a cinema.
Euclid often went to the cinema, and from an early age imagined that he would also be on the screen when he grew up. Only the boy imagined himself more like a circus performer - he loved to make people laugh and delight.
At school, Kurdzidis was fond of poetry and classics of literature, read esoteric literature. After graduating from high school, he entered the theater school, and after him went to work in the theater of the city of Lutsk. The young graduate spent only a short time in the theater, and then - the army, service at the cosmodrome in Astrakhan.
These years helped Euclid to rethink something, and he decided to devote himself to cinema, and for this he entered the acting department of VGIK and graduated brilliantly. He dreamed of playing in the capital's theater, but he understood that not everyone was taken there.
Once he caught the eye of director Vdadimir Motyl, and he saw in him the hero of his film, albeit episodic. However, this was already the beginning of an acting career - Euclid played a Greek in the film "Horses Carry Me".
Since then, it so happened that he was invited to the roles of foreigners: French, Italians, Caucasians. He embodied the images of the Chechens in the television series "Men's Work", in the film "War". Fearing to get stuck in this image, Euclid began to be selective about the proposed roles.
A noticeable trace in the actor's biography was left by the TV series My Personal Enemy (2005), where Euclid played a French writer who came to Russia. He studied French and English at the same time, and it was during this period that he auditioned for a Hollywood film. This series just helped to get out of the role of the villain, and the actor managed to show his diversity.
In subsequent years, other TV series appeared in his portfolio, as well as thrillers, comedies and detective films.
Theatre
After the success in cinema, Kurdzidis was noticed by theater directors, and once Peter Stein invited him to play in the play "Hamlet". On the theatrical stage, he was especially successful in the roles of aristocrats and intellectuals. But one day I had to play in a play where it was necessary to portray a male striptease. At first, Euclid refused, however, having learned the meaning of this action, he agreed, and has been performing in this performance for several years, including in tour performances in Europe.
Having played many performances, the artist made his solo performance "Alone with You" (2017), in which he played a role, sang and recited poetry. This performance was first shown on the stage of the MDT.
Personal life
This is a closed topic for Kurdzidis, but the journalist managed to find out that the actor was married three times. True, it is unknown on whom - this is a paradox.
At different times, he was credited with novels with different actresses, but everything turned out to be rumors. He himself says that he is very amorous, and for chemistry on stage and in front of the camera, he must be carried away by his partner. So it's purely for the good of the case.
Euclid has many friends, he loves to travel and often travels to Greece to visit his parents. Once he was even a candidate for mayor of the city of Thessaloniki, but he himself did not take it seriously.
In 2018, Euclid joined the organizing committee of the Crystal Source film festival, which took place in Yessentuki. He plans to organize his own film studio.
