Starting in 2010, Russian citizens can apply for two types of passports: the old-style familiar to everyone and a new biometric passport. The newest passport differs in that it has a service life twice as long as its predecessor (10 years), a chip with all information about the owner, which cannot be forged, and more sheets for visas. And the procedure for issuing it is almost no different from the old passport.
It is necessary
- - internal passport;
- - existing passport, if any;
- - a copy of the work book, certified by the employer, or its original and a simple copy, if you do not work;
- - 2 photos 3, 5x4, 5 cm in an oval on matte paper;
- - completed form;
- - money to pay the state duty.
Instructions
Step 1
Before filling out the questionnaire, take a copy of the work book at work, certified by the signature of the official and the seal of the organization. If you do not work, you do not need to certify a copy, but include the original in the package of documents: the FMS employee will verify the copy with him and certify the information about the work in the application form.
Step 2
You can take the form of the questionnaire in your territorial division of the FMS or download it on the Internet from the websites of the regional departments of the FMS and the portal "Gosuslugi.ru".
The questionnaire must be filled in in capital block letters.
You can also fill out a questionnaire on the Gosuslugi.ru portal and send it to the selected FMS department via the Internet. This requires a digital version of your photo.
You can scan the picture yourself or ask the photo shop to have it dumped to a digital medium: a USB flash drive or CD.
Step 3
In the photo studio where you will be filming, they usually know the requirements for a passport card. But keep in mind that you need a photo of 3, 5x4, 5 cm in an oval on matte paper.
The difference between the procedure for obtaining a biometric passport from the usual one is that these photos are needed only for the archive. You will also be photographed in a special booth when submitting documents to the FMS department.
This is not required for an old-style passport.
Step 4
The size of the state duty also differs. In 2010, an old-style passport cost 1 thousand rubles. for an adult and 300 rubles. for a child, and a new one - 2, 5 thousand rubles. and 1 thousand rubles. respectively.
You can find out the details for payment in the FMS department, on the website of its regional office, or from consultants at the nearest branch of Sberbank, where you can deposit money.
Step 5
You will also need an internal passport, and when processing a document for a child under 14 years old - his birth certificate with registration and citizenship marks (or separate relevant documents confirming registration or citizenship) and parents' passports.
With a full set of documents, you come to the FMS department at the place of registration or temporary registration during office hours. In the first case, the production of a passport will take no more than 1 month, in the second - up to 4 months.
