Utility bills are paid through monthly payments. But what if the other owner refuses to participate in paying for the services provided? There is a solution: you need to split your personal account and then you will receive different receipts, in accordance with the share of ownership.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that the second owner does not mind dividing the personal account. Without this, it will not be possible to pay for utilities separately. It will also be impossible if the apartment is not privatized.
Step 2
Check which organizations are supplying your utilities. It happens that electricity and gas are provided by third-party organizations, therefore, dividing the account in the management company or in the HOA will not be enough.
Step 3
Prepare a statement in which you write about your desire to split your personal account and justify your requirement. Also, you will need to refer to the documents, indicating in what shares the personal account should be divided. Subsequent payments also depend on this. The more ownership you own, the more you will pay. However, please note that payments are not calculated in direct proportion. For example, if you own a tenth of the total area of an apartment, this does not mean that you will pay only a tenth of the total amount charged for the use of housing and communal services.
Step 4
Prepare documents proving ownership of the apartment. Make a photocopy of these documents and attach them to your written application. The application must contain the consent of the other owner to separate the personal account and separate payment of utilities.
Step 5
Submit the application and documents to the management organization or HOA. Please note that your personal account will not be split one day. This will take from several days to several weeks, depending on the organization of the HOA or the management company.
Step 6
Wait for receipts for payment for housing and communal services. If you divided a personal account between two owners, there should be two of them. If after a month the receipt is still general, contact the management company and clarify whether your personal account has been split and how long it may take.
