Step 1
The importance of sight-reading has been noted for a long time. This skill by the middle of the 19th century. all major musical educational institutions in Russia and the world were obligatory included in their programs. Sight-reading develops hearing, thinking and motor skills, allows you to quickly navigate the keys, prepares the student for further performances in musical groups. Knowing why you need to be able to sight-read will make learning easier.

Individual talent matters when learning to sight-read, but experience plays a big role too, so spend plenty of time on this aspect.
Step 3
Learn all the graphic images of the musical notation well. Otherwise, you will waste time trying to remember the symbol, there will be pauses in the melody, which absolutely should not be allowed.

Learn to play blindfold. without looking at the keys. If the gaze jumps from sight to hand, then there is a high probability of losing the fragment being played, which will lead to inconsistent tempo of the music and pauses in the game. Try playing in the dark or with your eyes closed.
Step 5
Develop your hearing and practice constantly. For sight-reading, a bunch of three components is important - seeing, hearing and playing. The more experience you have, the easier it will be for you not only to see what you need to play, but also to logically understand how the melody can develop further.
Step 6
Develop your overall memory in any way you can. This will allow you to memorize a piece of music. While you play it, you will read the next fragment with your eyes, memorize it, play it, etc. Music schools often use this method of training memory. For a short period of time, you are shown a sheet of music. You must remember and reproduce the fragment you saw. You can train in this way at home on your own.
