There are many situations that may require dual citizenship or second citizenship. But different countries have different requirements for its design. How can you get the citizenship of another country, if necessary?
Instructions
Step 1
Learn the basic principles of the legislation of the country whose citizenship you want to obtain.
Step 2
Hire tutors, sign up for courses, or study the language of the country yourself. Prepare for the language proficiency test. In some countries, knowledge of the customs and peculiarities of the state is also required. Prepare for the Country Studies Test.
Step 3
Settle in this country or get a work visa, which will need to be renewed every six months. This is especially true for obtaining the status of a citizen in the countries of the former socialist camp. For a long period (from 3 to 12 years, depending on the state), reside in the country, leaving it only for the period specified in the contract or in accordance with the immigration laws.
Step 4
Give up Russian citizenship if you are going to obtain citizenship, for example, of Ukraine or Belarus. Buy real estate and get a job. Get a residence permit renewing it every six months. After 5 years in Ukraine (and after 7 years in Belarus) you will receive citizenship.
Step 5
If you have large sums of money, then the procedure for obtaining citizenship (especially in the EEC) will be greatly simplified for you. Invest in the economy of the country whose citizenship you want to obtain, from € 500,000 (in Bulgaria) to € 2,000,000 (in Austria). Buy stocks or government bonds of this country and confirm the fact of purchase at the consulate or immigration office, as well as with the tax authorities.
Step 6
If you plan to obtain Finnish citizenship, then, only after getting a job in this country, you will be granted this status, since the acceleration of the procedure for obtaining it through investment in the economy in this country is not provided. 5 years after formalizing your employment relationship, apply to the President of Finland to obtain citizenship.
Step 7
If you are going to obtain citizenship of traditional "emigrant" countries (Australia, Canada), this is possible, provided that you have a profession in demand in these countries, knowledge of the English language, residence in their territory for 3 (Canada) or 4 (Australia) years. If you do not want to wait for several years, invest in the economies of these countries the amounts stipulated by their legislation.
Step 8
Get an immigrant visa to travel to the United States. If you have relatives in this country, or you are a highly qualified specialist, then the US authorities will issue you a "green card" (permanent resident status). After 5 years, subject to testing in country studies and language, it will be possible to obtain US citizenship.
