Vladlen Paulus is a Soviet film and theater actor, television director. Known for the films "Theft", "The Peasant Son", "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears", "The Living and the Dead".
Vladlen Vladimirovich Paulus made his film debut in 1962 as the gangster Shark Dodson in the comedy film Business People. Often in the credits, the actor was listed as Vladimir Paulus.
The beginning of creativity
The artist's biography began in 1928 in Chita. The boy was born on September 25 in the family of a leading employee of the railway system. Mother worked in the museum as a caretaker.
The child did well at school. After graduation, he decided to continue his education at the construction institute. Then there was the work of an engineer and participation in amateur performances. Passion for the theater led to the abandonment of an engineering career.
In 1952 he entered the Moscow Art Theater School. Five years later, the aspiring dramatic actor Paulus began work at the Stanislavsky Theater in the capital. After the first season, the young man received an offer to work in the Sovremennik troupe from the famous Oleg Efremov.
The promising performer immediately agreed. He actively participated in many productions, was a sought-after artist. However, due to his difficult nature, Vladlen Vladimirovich stood out from the rest, sometimes not for the better.
The film debut took place in 1962. After playing the role of Dodson's Shark in Business People, the directors turned their attention to a promising actor. Paulus was offered to play security officers, policemen, military men, diplomats. All the images turned out to be reliable, interesting and bright.
Film career
At the same time, the film "Young Green" was released, where the performer reincarnated as the architect Mitya. According to the plot, in the early sixties, general-purpose installer Nikolai Babushkin, who was sent to one of the taiga construction sites, was struck by the bold project of the engineer Cheremnykh about transferring the workshop of a brick factory to the production of expanded clay blocks. The hero helps the Cheremnykh in the implementation of the project and meets his fate, Irina Ilyina.
The artist perfectly kept the balance of tenacity, masculinity, determination and humor with drama. He was Kolesov in "The Peasant Son", Mikhalych in "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears", Danilov in "The Living and the Dead", Derbentsev in "Theft", Shishkov in "The Devil with a Briefcase."
A multi-talented and independent person wanted to apply talent in a variety of ways. He was engaged in painting, was fond of literary creativity. In 1969 Paulus completed his advanced directing courses. The artist has been working in this area for several years. Then the performer continued his artistic career.
In 1970 he took part in the TV show "The Sun on the Wall". The production based on the work of William Kozlov told about the joys and worries of young people. Paulus played the head of the workshop Nikanor Ivanovich Remnev.

Bright works
In total, the artist played about forty film roles. He liked to act, so the actor agreed to small roles. He is remembered as the master of the episode. Sometimes a talented artist was not immediately recognized in diverse roles. He was an adventurous thug-robber, a strict policeman, a focused professional expert, a kind and simple-minded factory foreman.
There were no images beyond Paulus' control. He played surprisingly realistically the master Mikhalych in the famous film "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears." The tiny role has become quite prominent.
In 1975 and 1976, the artist starred in the famous film history "The Lost Expedition" and its sequel under the title "Golden River". Paulus got the hero Vaganov. According to the plot, in 1918, an expedition headed by the famous geologist Professor Smelkov was sent to Siberia to the Ardybash River in search of a gold deposit. Soon, all the participants are in the hands of the White Guards. Two of them manage to escape.
The action of the film "Golden River" takes place five years after the events of the first part. The heroes enter the former members of the expedition and find themselves at the place where the richest gold deposit was found. It was replenished with precious metal again, but getting to it is more and more difficult.
Dramaturgy
In 1977, the artist became an executive officer in Govorukhin's film The Wind of Hope. The film tells about the voyage to Australia on the training sailing ship "Nadezhda" of the cadets of the nautical school. The heroes will have to cross several seas, conquer the ocean and save an expedition of volcanologists in disaster. Swimming is becoming a kind of selection of the best.
In another film project of the famous director, the actor dreamed of in 1979. In the film "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed", the performer played the forensic expert Pavel Ivanovich Rodionov.
At the same time Vladlen Vladimirovich was engaged in literary activity. Paulus created two plays. The first composition was a dramatization of Steinbeck's works Tartilla Flat and Charlie's Journey. At the beginning of 1979, work was completed on a second essay entitled "Boulevard Novel".
Lev Durov and Mikhail Kozakov took up the production of the play. For various reasons, it was not possible to implement the plan. Oleg Dal, who read his work, proposed by the artist's wife, independently decided to make a film adaptation. However, the script was not approved by Mosfilm.
Vladlen Paulus passed away on June 28, 1979.
