Biography

In September 1991, on the 27th, a daughter was born in the family of Stere and Tanya Halep, who was named Simona. The girl grew up an active child and was fond of sports. When she was four years old, her older brother Nicolae took her sister to the tennis section. She really liked this kind of sport, and she began to engage only in it.

Already at the age of 13, she actively took part in senior junior tournaments and achieved impressive results there. The Romanian National Tennis Federation already had high hopes for the promising tennis player.

Career

In 2007, Simona made her way to the Grand Slam competition, but could not reach great heights. After just a year, she was able to defeat one of the best tennis players - Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the Australian Open. At the age of 16, she already hit the top 100 tennis players in the world.

In 2009, the girl took a decisive step: Simona underwent breast reduction surgery for the sake of her sports career. Perhaps this is what influenced further success in tennis.

In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London for the first time. Simona participated in both singles and doubles. Unfortunately, this did not bring any results, the athlete flew out of the tournament in the very first matches.

She managed to reach her first truly great heights in 2014. The girl reached the semifinals of the prestigious tournament at Wimbledon. She also reached the final of Roland Garos, where she missed the victory in the match with Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova. A year later, Khalep retired in the US Open semi-finals.

In 2018, at the championship in Australia, reaching the final, Simona lost to a more experienced athlete from Denmark, Caroline Wozniacki. The second tournament of the same year, the French Open, brought Simone Halep the first long-awaited trophy - in the final battle for the prize, she faced the American Sloane Stevens and beat her 2-1.

In the middle of 2017, Simona Halep achieved the best result in her career, she topped the world ranking of tennis players. To date, Halep continues to perform and actively participates in various tournaments. In early 2019, she lost the lead in the ranking to the ambitious Japanese woman Naomi Osaka, who had won the Australian Open the day before.

Personal life

The famous tennis player devotes most of her life to sports. According to her, she is going to get married and have children only after thirty years. Nevertheless, she finds time for a relationship and meets with former tennis player Radu-Marina Barbu.
