Sport, namely wrestling, is very close to me, so it is an honor for me to talk about eminent wrestlers. Alexey Shevtsov is a Russian wrestler who defended the name of the Russian Federation in Greco-Roman wrestling in the early 2000s.
Biography
Alexey Viktorovich Shevtsov was born on January 29, 1979 in the city of Fergana, and later moved with his parents to Moscow. The boy showed interest in martial arts from an early age, but Alexei actively began wrestling at the age of 10, which, in fact, is too late for building a professional career, but for a purposeful boy this did not become an obstacle. The first coach was Yevgeny Peremyshlev, and from the age of seventeen Alexey moved to improve his sports skills to the honored coach of the Soviet Union V. M. Igumenov.
Career
Starting, and really serious success in Greco-Roman wrestling came to Shevtsov in 98, after he won a silver medal at the Russian Championship. A year later, he repeated his success, and also won the junior championships of Europe and the world. In 2000 he was able to take the honorable 2nd place in the all-Russian championship. All these achievements made it possible to defend the honor of the Russian Federation at the Olympic Games in Sydney in weight up to 54 kg. However, according to the results of two fights held with a Korean and a Romanian, Alexei did not manage to compete for the Olympics award. Failures did not break the athlete, and after ten months, intense work and love for his work allowed Shevtsov to win the Russian championship in 2001, become the winner of the World Cup, and compete in the world and European championships. Success continued to haunt him and in 2002, when he finished third in the World Cup, won the competition in Germany. Two years later, in 2004, Alexei again became the winner of the All-Russian Championship, and, becoming practically the leader in the Russian national team, received a ticket to the Olympics in Athens, but unlike 2000, he fought in the category up to 60 kg. The first two fights with a Chinese and a German Shevtsov passed easily, then defeated a wrestler from Kazakhstan and reached the semifinals, however, in the semifinal bout he lost victory to a wrestler from Cuba, and then lost in the repechage bout for the bronze medal to the representative of the Bulgarian team. Despite defeats in two Olympics, Alexey remained a member of the Russian national team, and continued to take part in many All-Russian and international competitions and tournaments. A year after the Athens Olympics, he was able to win bronze medals at the World Cup and at the European Championships in Varna. Completed his professional career in 2006.
At the moment, Alexey Shevtsov is the ZMS of Russia in Greco-Roman wrestling, an honored coach of Russia. Has a higher education, is a graduate of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism. He is a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Martial Arts of the RSUFKSMiT.
