Biography: early years

Oleg Vladimirovich Vasnetsov was born on September 27, 1953 in Moscow. There is no information about his childhood years. It is only known that Vasnetsov was born into a so-called intelligent family. After school, he entered MGIMO, which was already considered a prestigious educational institution. At the university, Vasnetsov was fond of foreign languages and history. Immediately after graduation, he began working in his specialty at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At first he served in "minor" positions.

Vasnetsov successfully combined his labor activity with his studies at the Diplomatic Academy. In 1984 he received his Ph. D. in history. Vasnetsov is fluent in three foreign languages: English, French and Bulgarian.

Career

In 1988, Oleg Vasnetsov was sent to Bulgaria. There he worked for five years as a cultural attaché in the Soviet embassy. In 1993, Vasnetsov returned to his homeland, where he continued to work in the Central Office of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Three years later, he was sent to France, where he served as an adviser at the Russian embassy. In this position, he worked for four years.

In 2000, Vasnetsov became Deputy Director of the UNESCO Department for Cultural Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry. He was engaged in the promotion of national culture in the international arena in the foreign policy interests of the country.

Three years later, he was sent again, this time to hot Africa. There Vasnetsov was the Russian ambassador to the Congo for five years.

In 2009, he was recalled to his homeland, where he took the post of deputy director of the Department for Relations with Subjects, Parliament and Public Associations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Two years later, he became the director of this department.

In July 2018, Vasnetsov became the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Moldova. He replaced Farit Mukhametshin in this post. Vasnetsov was sent to Chisinau in the midst of the crisis in relations between Russia and Moldova. The Foreign Ministry considered his candidacy for this post the most suitable. Vasnetsov has many years of experience in diplomatic activity not only in Russia, but also in different countries of the world. According to experts, this can effectively work for him in a crisis region.

Vasnetsov has the Order of Friendship, which was awarded to him in 2010 for his significant contribution to the implementation of the course of the Russian Federation in foreign policy.
