In Christian liturgical practice, there are many different types of church services. They accompany a person from the moment of birth until death. On their last journey, Christians accompany their relatives to the funeral service. In this rite, the main prayer is the prayer of permission.
The religious duty of every person who considers himself a Christian is worthy of spending his loved ones or relatives on the last journey. The church prays for the forgiveness of the sins of the deceased not only at funeral services and memorial services. When a person goes to eternity, the rite of Orthodox burial and funeral service is performed.
At the end of the funeral service, the priest reads a certain prayer, which in Christian practice is called "permissive". The text of this prayer is written on a sheet that is included in any Christian burial set. A so-called rim is located on top of the sheet, which is cut off. The rest is a prayer of permission. After the reading by the priest at the end of the funeral service, the prayer is put into the right hand of the deceased.
The text of the permission prayer contains petitions on behalf of the priest and the rest of those praying for the forgiveness of the sins of the deceased. The hope is fulfilled that God will “resolve” (liberate, forgive) a person who has completed his earthly journey from sins.
In addition, the prayer asks for release from various curses that could have taken place in relation to a person during earthly life. The priest asks for deliverance from ecclesiastical, hierarchical excommunication with the hope that God will accept the deceased into paradise.
Thus, it turns out that the prayer of permission is an important component of the funeral rite. It is no coincidence that some clergymen call this prayer the main thing for a deceased person.
