Inna Volkova is a singer, leader of the Kolibri group, a bright and charismatic personality. The collective is often called feminist, but the participants themselves assure that they simply chose their own style: a mixture of directions with a touch of slight decadence.
Childhood and youth
Inna Volkova was born in 1964, in distant Murmansk, her zodiac sign is Cancer. The family of the future singer was the most ordinary, the girl's childhood was also no different from most of her peers. Her only feature was her early love of music.
Inna studied well, her parents planned that she would go to college and get a "serious profession." However, they had to come to terms with the choice of their daughter, who decided at school: she would become a singer, songwriter, or, in extreme cases, an actress. After leaving school, the girl thought about moving: it was difficult to develop creatively in her native Murmansk. Inna arrived in St. Petersburg, where a fateful meeting with Natalia Pivovarova, Irina Sharovatova and other members of the Kolibri group took place.
Professional career
The original women's musical group was formed in 1988. At first, there were 7 participants in the project, later their number was reduced to 5. The bet was not an unusual mix: a combination of a mixture of various musical genres with a predominance of folk-rock and costume show. The songs were written by the participants themselves, Volkova also created several interesting compositions.
Concert performances "Kolibri" began in 1991. The musicians of the groups "Nautilus Pompilius", "Television", "Aquarium" took part in the recording of the first album. The group became famous for the composition "Autumn Yellow Leaf", made in the style of a parody.
A real breakthrough for the group was their performance at the Russian Rock festival in Paris. Volkova as a vocalist was remembered by the public. Several more performances followed in open areas and constant exits in clubs. The collective was invited to domestic and foreign rock festivals, the popularity grew.
"Kolibri" positioned itself as the first and only feminist musical group in Russia. Her work was not close to everyone, but the number of fans grew every year. Each performance of the girls was turned into a real costume show. Clips were recorded for many songs, to the creation of which leading studio masters and arrangers were involved. There was complete equality in the group: five female vocalists performed their hits in turn. The singers experimented with directions, including songs in various styles in concerts. Folk, rock, pop motifs, parodies in an interesting arrangement distinguished "Hummingbird" from the crowd of performers and provided them with loyal fans.
Simultaneously with the live performances, the band recorded albums. The debut collection "Behavior" was released in 1991, soon after it was released on vinyl and licensed in the USA. A year later, the team presented the second collection "Little Tragedies". All the songs in it are written by the vocalists themselves, and the leading part in each composition is performed by the author.
The band has a busy schedule, releasing an album almost every year. The most successful is "Find Ten Differences", published in 1995. A year earlier, "Kolibri" went on the air, the songs were played on the radio. The group gained great fame, previously released albums were re-released on vinyl.
The team worked for a long time in the same composition. Volkova repeatedly admitted in an interview: all these years they have rallied the group, turning it into a real family. Constant touring also contributed to this relationship. Inna's last performances with Kolibri took place in 2013, after which the team quietly left the stage. The album of rare records "Apocrypha" became a parting gift from the admirer.
In the piggy bank of Volkova's creative achievements, not only vocals. She tried her hand as a songwriter, which she performed as part of "Kolibri". Among the hits Volkova "Not near", "Find 10 differences", "And me?" Inna starred in several episodes of the popular TV series Streets of Broken Lanterns, participated in the film Hummingbird in Paris and at home. The work in the picture of Volkova's husband Alexander Bashirov “The Iron Heel of the Oligarchy” was also interesting. The whole team of "Hummingbird" starred in the film, but the main role went to Inna. She also wrote a song for this picture and sang it herself. The composition "Not a Hero" is not performed at all in the manner of "Hummingbird" and reveals new facets of Volkova's talent.
Personal life
Inna Volkova is the second wife of actor and director Alexander Bashirov. The age difference between the spouses is 9 years, but this does not at all interfere with a happy family life. It is not easy for two creative personalities to maintain stable relations, but Volkova and Basharov are confident that with mutual love, respect and support, anything is possible. According to Inna, it is the professional sphere that prevents them and Alexander from getting bored and slipping into their everyday routine.
The couple has an only daughter, Alexandra Maria. A talented girl was taught music from a young age, but the grown-up Alexandra-Maria chose the path of her father. Even at school, she firmly decided to become a director, her parents supported this choice. Today the girl is studying at VGIK on the course of Sergei Solovyov. Alexandra Maria, despite her young years, leads a completely independent life. She lives and studies in Moscow, and Inna herself, together with her husband, prefers not to leave the now native St. Petersburg.
