People's Artist of Russia Oleg Evgenievich Menshikov is one of the brightest representatives of Melpomene, who was not afraid to transfer a huge share of his work to the Internet. Since May 2018, he has been acting as a celebrity interviewer on his Youtube channel. However, this hobby does not distract him from acting and directing, to the delight of the army of fans of his talent.
A native of the Moscow region and a native of a family far from acting (his father is a military engineer, and his mother is a doctor), Oleg Menshikov is better known to a wide audience in our country for his films in the films "Pokrovskie Vorota", "Burnt by the Sun", "The Barber of Siberia", "State Counselor" and "Legend No. 17".
Biography and career of Oleg Evgenievich Menshikov
On November 8, 1960, the future famous artist was born in Serpukhov. Shortly after the birth of their son, the family moved to Moscow, where Oleg was growing up. From childhood, he showed remarkable creativity. The music school, where he studied to play the violin, and frequent visits to the Operetta Theater led to the fact that in the senior classes of the school Menshikov already independently composed texts and music for performances.
The final decision to become a student of a theater university came to Oleg Menshikov after his chance meeting with Vladimir Monakhov, a teacher at the Shchepkinsky School. It was after Monakhov was struck by the young man's talented performance at the wedding of the daughter of one of the employees of the Maly Theater as a man-orchestra performing improvised musical compositions on the violin and piano and reciting classical texts that the theater teacher invited him to an official audition at his university …
In 1977, Oleg Menshikov entered the "Sliver" on the course to Nikolai Afonin. And then there was the stage of the Maly Theater for one year, the urgent service, which he carried on the stage of the Soviet Army Theater, the troupe of the Ermolova Moscow Drama Theater (1985-1989) and the stage of the Mossovet Theater (1990). It was for the main role in Fomenko's play "Caligula", played on the stage of the Mossovet Theater, that Oleg Menshikov became truly known, both in our country and abroad.
In 1995, Oleg Evgenievich founded Theatrical Partnership 814, one of the first entreprise companies in Russia. As a director, he staged the performances "Kitchen", "Woe from Wit" and "The Players" here.
Since 2012, Menshikov began to act as artistic director of the Yermolova Drama Theater, in which from the very beginning he made a very serious reorganization, which affected not only the repertoire, but also the composition of the troupe. It is interesting that he did not spare even in his "cleansing" his longtime colleague at the "Pokrovsky Gates" Tatyana Dogileva.
Menshikov made his cinematic debut back in 1980, when he first appeared on the set in Shahbazyan's drama “I Wait and Hope”. Successful filmmaking became the reason for receiving a stellar role in the title film "Pokrovskie Vorota" two years later.
Currently, the filmography of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation consists of many successful film projects, among which I especially want to highlight the following: "Dyuba-Dyuba", "Burnt by the Sun", "Prisoner of the Caucasus", "Siberian Barber", "East-West", "Woe from mind”,“State Councilor”,“Golden Calf”,“Doctor Zhivago”and“Legend No. 17”.
Personal life of the artist
Due to the special secrecy of Oleg Evgenievich Menshikov in matters of his personal life, detailed information on this matter is not available in the public domain. It is known that in 2005 he was married to actress Anastasia Chernova. The couple do not yet have children, which contributes to the frequent gatherings of noisy and cheerful companies in a narrow circle of their family.
Late marriage and the absence of children give rise to meticulous tabloids from time to time to spread rumors about the "special" orientation of the artist. However, there is no reliable confirmation of this.
