Childhood
Processes and events taking place far from home very often affect the daily life of people in the most remote places. Kirill Trofimovich Mazurov was born on April 5, 1914. The boy was the sixth, youngest child in a peasant family. Parents lived in the village of Rudnya, which was located near the city of Gomel. My father did carpentry and carpentry. He worked in the field and in the latrine trades. The mother was engaged in housekeeping and raising children.
From an early age, Kirill had a good memory and the ability to master any craft. At the age of six, he read fluently and knew how to write. He always helped the elders with household chores. When the boy was seven years old, he was sent to Gomel, where his uncle lived and worked. A close relative took his nephew under his wing and tried to instill useful skills in him. Under his influence, Mazurov joined the Komsomol. And after school, he decided to get the education in demand at that time at a road technical school.
Guerrilla routes
Having received the specialty of a construction technician, Mazurov was engaged in the design and construction of roads in one of the neighboring districts. In 1936 he was drafted into the army and assigned to the railway troops. During the period of service, Kirill got acquainted with the features of the landscape, which helped him during the organization of the partisan movement. The war found Mazurov in the position of secretary of the Brest regional committee of the Komsomol. Together with units of the Red Army, he retreated under the blows of superior enemy forces and was seriously wounded.
In the summer of 1942, after recovering, Mazurov was sent to the rear of the enemy in the occupied territory of Belarus. Books have been written and films made about the contribution the partisans made to the defeat of the enemy hordes. Kirill Trofimovich did a lot of organizational work to create partisan detachments. After the liberation of Minsk in the summer of 1944, Mazurov was sent to the city ravaged to its foundations. Work begins to restore the destroyed economy.
