Michel Platini was born in the small commune of Jeff in the northeastern region of France, Lorraine. Date of birth - June 21, 1955. Despite the fact that Michel was born in France, he is Italian by origin. His grandparents were native Italians, but during the First World War they were forced to move to neighboring France.
The boy always wanted to play football, especially since his father Aldo Platini also played football, but at an amateur level. Having learned about his son's hobby, he supported him and helped in everything. At the age of 11, Platini Jr. began playing for the local team. At the age of 16, the Platini club at the regional level was able to defeat the Metz youth team, representatives of Ligue 1, the main tournament of France.
The breeders drew attention to the talented young man and invited him to their academy, but dreams of playing for their favorite team were not destined to come true. Platini missed the first viewing due to injury, on the second attempt, the promising player was rejected by doctors, he fainted during spirometry (measuring the volume of air in the lungs). By that time, Aldo Platini was the director of another club from the top divisions of Nancy, after talking with coaches and management, he took an upset son to his team's reserve.
Career
Michel Platini began his professional football career at Nancy at the end of the 1972/1973 season - the team's top scorer was injured and Platini replaced him. Already in the next season, he began to appear more often on the field and played 20 matches in which he scored only 2 goals. Playing for Nancy, Michel also served six months in the army, in the sports unit, thanks to which he had the opportunity to continue training and play for his club. In total, Platini played 214 matches for his father's team, in which he scored 127 goals.
The next round of the famous football player's career was Saint-Etienne, where he played 3 seasons, appearing on the field 145 times and scoring 82 goals. Also in this club, Platini first became the champion of France in 1981. In 1982, thanks to the expansion of the quota of foreign players, Platini moved to Juventus Turin, in which he immediately became a key player. As part of the "Old Senior", he became the top scorer of Serie A, the main tournament of Italy, three times in a row.
During his career at Juve, Platini twice became the champion of Italy, won the Italian Cup, the Cup of Cups and the most prestigious trophy of the Old World - the European Champions Cup. In total, Platini spent 5 seasons in the black-and-white camp, in which he played 224 times and upset opponents 104 times with a goal.
