Shemar Moore (full name Shemar Franklin) is an American actor, producer, model, and television personality. Best known for his role as Malcolm Winters in The Young and the Reckless and as FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan in Criminal Minds.
Moore began his career as a fashion model. During his student years, he signed a contract with the Irene Marie Models agency, where he worked for several years. He has appeared in television commercials and posed for fashion catalogs.
Moore began appearing on television in the mid-1990s, but before that he had worked as a presenter on the music program Soul Train for several years.
Today, the actor has about a hundred roles in television projects, full-length and short films. He also provides voice acting for animated films. In 2014, Cyborg (Victor "Vic" Stone) spoke in his voice in Justice League: War.

Shemar Franklin was born in the spring of 1970 in the United States. On his father's side, he has African American roots, and on his mother's side, he has relatives from the Caucasus, as well as from Ireland, France and Canada. In total, the family had four children and all boys. The name Shemar is composed of letters taken from the names of the parents. Father's name was Sherrod Moore, and mother's name was Maryline Wilson.
Almost immediately after the birth of the boy, his parents divorced, his mother decided to go to Denmark. Shemar's mother had a higher pedagogical education, so she began working at school as a mathematics teacher.
Mom has always been for Shemar the most beloved and most important person in life. He has repeatedly said in his interviews that of all the women around him in life, mom always remains number one. After all, it was she who taught Shemar everything that he is rightfully proud of in life. She instilled in the boy love and respect for women and taught him real chivalry.
When Shemar's mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he tried in every possible way to help her in the fight against the terrible disease, always found time to communicate and search for the best specialists.
Together with the cast of the Criminal Minds series, Shemar took part in a charity cycling marathon. All funds from participation were donated to the disease research fund.
Shemar also, together with famous designers, created his own brand of clothing "Baby Girl". He donates the proceeds from its sale to charitable foundations and a fund to help patients with multiple sclerosis and search for a cure for the disease.
After living in Denmark for about three years, the Moore family moved to Bahrain and lived that way until Shemar started school. Back in his student years, Shemar passed a casting at a modeling agency and began to work as a model. For several years he devoted himself to the advertising and modeling business, acting for magazines, fashion catalogs and television advertisements. Even today, he sometimes collaborates with modeling agencies, although most of the time is taken by filming in television projects.
After graduating, the young man went to Los Angeles, where he decided to pursue a career in show business. None of his friends and relatives believed that Shemar could become famous. He himself decided that he would definitely implement all his plans, even if it would take a lot of time and effort. He was not used to abandoning his plans and believed that he could succeed.
First work on television
In the early 1990s, Moore became the host of the popular music program Soul Train, which appeared on television in 1971. Representatives of musical directions performed in it: soul, hip-hop, rhythm and blues. Sometimes jazz musicians and performers of genres were invited to the program: gospel, disco, funk.
One of the elements of the program was "Soul Train Line" - a kind of dance show organized by guest performers and musicians. They lined up and danced in turns, displaying different styles and images.
The studio also had its own dance group, which accompanied the performances of singers and musicians. Many famous dancers have attended this program. Among them: Carmen Electra, Perry Reid, Nick Cannon, Walter Payton.

Film career
Soon Shemar was invited to shoot the famous TV series "The Young and the Restless". It was this work that brought the actor fame and glory. He worked on the project for almost eight years. The series began airing in 1973 and is still one of the most sought-after on television.
The film is set in the city of Genoa, home to two wealthy families involved in the production and sale of cosmetics. The history of these families formed the basis of the series, where not only the personal relationships of the main characters are touched upon, but also the urgent problems of the city and its inhabitants.
Shemar played another famous role in the project "Criminal Minds". He has starred on the series since 2005 as FBI agent Derek Morgan.
In 2016, Moore became the producer of the S. W. A. T. project and also starred in it as Sergeant Daniel Harrelson.
Personal life
Shemar is still not married. The actor believes that he has not yet found his chosen one, with whom he would like to live to a ripe old age.
Sometimes in the press there are rumors about Shemar's romances with famous representatives of show business. So while working on the music video of the singer Toni Braxton, Shemar had a stormy romance with her, which lasted several months. Then he himself said in an interview that he fell in love with actress Halle Barry, but this relationship was only short-lived.
Today Shemar lives in his own house with his two beloved dogs - bulldogs named Sug and Mo.
