Martynyuk Georgy Yakovlevich - Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, Honored and People's Artist of the Russian Federation, holder of the Order of Friendship. He embodied many images on the screen and the theatrical stage, but people remember him only for his only role - police major Znamensky from the Soviet television play "The Investigation is Conducted by ZnatoKi".
Childhood and youth
Georgy was born at the very beginning of the spring of 1940 in the city of Orenburg, which was then called Chkalov. The father of the future actor served as a medium-sized official, and his mother worked in veterinary medicine. The parents dreamed that the child would choose a medical career for himself, but the son was in love with the theater since childhood. And therefore, after graduating from high school, he went to the capital, where he entered GITIS. He had a phenomenal memory and was talented, so he was able to enter 120 people for one place in the competition.
Creative biography
After completing his education in 1962, Martynyuk Georgy Yakovlevich began to work as part of a theatrical collective on Malaya Bronnaya, where he played more than sixty roles on the stage. The first film, in which the artist appeared, was called "At Your Threshold" and was released in 1962.
The next work in the cinema was "Blizzard" based on the story of Pushkin, and then, in 1968, Georgy starred in a four-part film about the war "Shield and Sword", playing the Soviet intelligence officer Alexei Zubov. The actor did not aspire to filming in films, much more he was attracted by theatrical activity, but he could not refuse, especially when patriotic films required persons of a completely certain type.
And that is why in 1971, when the cult TV show "The Investigation is Conducted by ZnatoKi" was released, the audience recognized in one of the main characters, Major Znamensky, the already famous actor of Soviet cinema Martynyuk Georgy. The series turned out to be so successful that people from all over the country wrote letters to "Comrade Znamensky" and even came to Moscow at 38 Petrovka, in search of Znamensky, asking to sort out another confusing crime, and on the streets the actor was recognized, but invariably called Pal Palych.
Then, back in 1971, no one could have imagined that the series would drag on for a long 20 years, and all this time the three main characters, the actors Martynyuk, Kanevsky and Elsa Ledj, literally became hostages of their characters. They were not invited to any other roles. Martynyuk admitted that he was sorely lacking time for his favorite business - theater.
The series, on strict instructions from above, had to continue, this project was served by dozens of specialists in criminology, forensic medicine and other professions necessary for the realism of what was happening, and the actors even had police certificates.
Personal life of Georgy is tightly intertwined with filming in "Experts". His first wife was the actress from the TV series Valya Markova, who gave birth to the actor's daughter Lisa. Unfortunately, Lisa died of cancer at the age of 20, and the couple were unable to continue their relationship. The second wife of the actor had nothing to do with theater or cinema. She was a female physician Niyole Pranovna, for whom George was treating sciatica.
Last years and death
In 1991, everything collapsed. People stopped attending the theater, the TV show was closed, and the cinema already needed completely different, new types. Kanevsky emigrated to Israel, Ledjay fought cancer and soon died, and Martynyuk did not have a job. He agreed to any offers - advertising. Nostalgic transmissions. But this was not enough to feel like a fulfilled person.
Then Georgy fell ill. Everything affected - many years of hard work, depression, age, lack of work, inability to play on stage. In 2000, Martynyuk was diagnosed with lung cancer, which was operated on, but this was only a reprieve, and in the winter of 2014 the actor died.
