The war intervened in the further fate of the teenager. The family was evacuated to Tashkent, where the boy met the head of the State Jewish Theater - Solomon Mikhoels. His theater was also evacuated to Uzbekistan. Unbeknownst to his parents, the boy entered an acting school recruited by Mikhoels. His talent and beautiful voice allowed the future singer to join the troupe, and later he left for Moscow with them.

Creative way

In the capital, the young man enters the music school. Gnesins and becomes an actor of the State Jewish Theater. In the late 40s, numerous arrests took place in the theater, after the well-known "Doctors' Case" Emil leaves the theater, is transferred to evening studies and goes to look for work.

At first, he sings in cinemas before screenings, performs in small cafes and earns his living with great difficulty. At one of these performances, the young man is noticed by the head of the jazz orchestra E. Rosner and invites him to his team. Soon they began to recognize the singer, and a year later he became a laureate of the pop artist competition for his solo performance "Freilax".

Further work of the singer is associated with the popular ensemble "Melodia" in those years, he also performed at concerts with many famous performers and musicians of those years. Emil sings all the songs in Russian, which he learned only when he arrived in Moscow.

His first disc was released in 1963, where the singer collected his best compositions in many languages. After its release, Emil became very popular throughout the Soviet Union. His collaboration with Pavel Aedonitsky and Andrey Petrov gave music lovers a huge number of songs.

Soon, the singer begins to be the first in the country to perform the songs of Western singers, translating them into Russian. His concerts are always sold out, and the records are sold out instantly. He became a truly pop star, with whom few could compare in those years.

Departure from the country

The singer passed away in America in 2001, when he was 78 years old.

Personal life

The singer's first wife was his college friend. They lived together for only a few years, but the couple had a son.

The second wife is Margarita Polonskaya. Together with her, Emil lived a long and happy life and only the death of his beloved wife became the reason for their separation. They had a son who later became a medical professional.

When the singer was already over 70, he met another woman who became his third wife. Irina came to America from the capital, where she studied at the variety department of GITIS. She was with Emil until the end of his life.
